Sheys Rezaei and Mohammad Nosrati of Iranian club Persepolis were both suspended by Football Federation of Iran (FFIRI) for an unspecified period and fined almost €29,000 each after the two engaged in an alleged "inappropriate goal celebration" following their club's 3-2 win over Damash Gilan last Saturday.

"[Nosrati and Rezaei] have been banned indefinitely from all football activities after committing immoral acts," said Ismail Hasanzadeh, the FFIRI's disciplinary committee chief.
During a celebration following the game-winning goal, Nosrati could be seen on camera pressing his hand into Rezaei's buttocks.

That action can be considered to be "a violation of public chastity based on current Iranian social values", Judge Valiollah Hosseni told the Fars News Agency, adding, "It is even worse to do these actions before the eyes of thousands of spectators and TV cameras.

"The punishment of this crime is up to two months of prison and 74 lashes."

Members of the Iranian parliament, sports officials and judges have joined in calls for the players to be immediately punished. The lashes would be carried out on the football field, where the inappropriate behaviour occurred.

The FFIRI has worked hard in recent years to stamp out coarse language and, what they believe are, acts of inappropriate behaviour by both players and spectators within the country.

Actually it wasn't just that. they ( Rezaee and Nosrati ) did it again in that game. the video you saw was just one of the scenes .

They are both punished for bad behavior in front of crowd and cameras but in sporting terms. this lash thing is just Nonsense.

I agree with this, I can understand the punishment for the guy fingering but not the guy who is being fingered it's not like the guy could anything about it...

Well, it was 1-2 years ago, when your president stated in his United Nations speech (I think it was that) that there are no gay people in Iran... if you ask me, trying to keep up that sort of public image in the name of religion is indeed pathetic.
