osvaldo and bojan partnership was doing well, why change it?

the constant squad rotation wont get good results and that has been the case with us, but the manager still keeps trying his luck..

too much rotation makes it hard to develop a team chemistry

also makes players less motivated if they play well and they're still not guaranteed to start the next game (cassetti, simplicio, etc)

i think osvaldo is resting so he can play vs milan. he started every game for us so far and played full 90. but even disregarding osvaldo, i agree, too much rotation

borriello on for perrotta

i dont even want to know who's playing rightback now

with 4 strikers on the pitch now, we may or may not score. but i'm sure as hell we're going to concede more goals now

----Burdisso----Heinze---------
--------------DeRossi-----Angel
------Gago--------Greco--------
-------Borini-----------Bojan----
-------------Borriello---Osvaldo

I saw some statistics.Apparently we had 63 ball posession, created more chances, dominated the game.I didnt see the game, so can anybody tell me that it was like that?

we always dominate possession under LE, but we don't do enough with the ball

we had twice as much possession as genoa, but both teams had the same amount of shots on target. we're just simply not efficient

did not see the second half, was pissed on how we played and enrique's squad selection. It seems he made some amateurish subs and we conceded a goal in the 89th min(i am so f****** surprised)

p.s.--how many more matched until luis enrique gets 'ZAMPAED'

We just lack a player who can make a difference. In midfield a Xavi type player and in attack a Messi. Somebody who always takes the responsibility and gets/makes the goals.

It was an unfair loss. We were clearly the better side. Genoas winning goal was extremely lucky (for them).

Our biggest problem: some crappy passing leads to counter-attacks, which always punishes us

Meh,

It wasn't all doom and gloom. We certainly didn't deserve to lose, but when we make mistakes like that, we're going to get punished each and every time so I can't fault Genoa for taking that chance.

That said, we dominated them thoroughly, but as Schnix mentioned, we simply aren't efficient enough with the ball. We have to be more incisive and decisive in the final third.

Despite the loss, this was much better though than the Palermo game I feel.

true that, palermo was much worse. we deserved to lose that game, whereas we deserved to win this game. balances out... we deserve to draw every game at this rate

but at least a draw and a win is better than 2 draws (3 points vs 2 points)

free_cat wrote:I watched quite a few Roma games. I see two problems in your team. The first one is that your CB are atrocious. Kjaer is atrocious, slow and inconsistent. Heinze is well past it. Burdisso is meh. Second problem is that you only have width through the full backs, who have 0 ability to drible. Your team would benefit a lot from 1-2 players who could drible out wide or cutting in and provide superiority. I don't know if Lamela is this guy. Bojan isn't; he needs space to drible and is mainly a finisher, but can do a good job out wide (and he has been one of the best Roma players every time I've watched you).

Agree with your two points. We've lacked quality wide players for a couple years now, ever since we lost Mancini and since Taddei peaked. I think we need Totti to come back so we could move Lamela over on the opposite side of Osvaldo. Lamela would give us much more width compared to Bojan who will have the natural instinct to cut and go for goal. And as for Bojan, he's lacking consistency. He's played especially well when coming off the bench though, reminding me a bit of Montella because of that.

Wow, way to give up on a team half-way through the match. Personally, I'm not able to bring myself to shut off my TV during a Roma match, I'd rather stick by my team and suffer through it (as I did for the entire 90 minutes at Old Trafford). And that "damn manager" is actually doing a good job. Go look back at that match against Cagliari and then go watch yesterday's match again. Enrique has actually made a lot of adaptions to Serie A. Our build up play is really improving, we're actually playing more vertically now and he's encouraging it. Heinze played instead of Juan because Juan just came back on Sunday from a long injury and had a below-par match, do you actually think he's up for 2 games in 4 days... I doubt it. Perrotta right back, yea, Cassetti did ok on Sunday, but Enrique doesn't fancy him on the flank, while Cicinho and Rosi are out injured. And Borini played to give Osvaldo a rest ahead of Saturday against Milan. Now, these decisions could be debatable, but we can't go bashing them because they're logical decisions with proper explanations behind them.

It's going to be a long journey, these things are going to happen unfortunately. As for the Xavi and Messi-type players, we can't just go out and spend like madmen because we would be jumping the gun. These players take time to create and develop. Right now, we're relying on De Rossi and Totti to bring the team forward. Later on, we're gunna be hoping that Pjanic and Lamela are the ones to do it. But it'll take time for them to become those decisive, star players, so there are definitely going to be some growing pains.
