Justified Diving Empty Justified Diving

Post by Rabea Wed Oct 19, 2011 7:19 pm

I was talking about football with a friend the other day, and we got into diving... then he said that I would dive in football if I had the chance... he took the Messi vs Real Sociaded dive and said that any other player in the world would dive and that diving has just became part of the game, I responded La Liga game and left as I was late for class... so my thought is.. what would have been a better respond and WTF HAS THE GAME TURNED INTO!

CR7 dive outside the box, gets penalty:

Justified Diving Di-L1CL

Messi does exactly the same thing inside the box (I don't think it even was dive against Sociedad), and gets yellow card. Story of the season.

What? Op was talking dive against Sociedad, I don't remember any clear dives, if you gonna talk about dives, you should use some clearer examples.

To be fair, Jiopsi has a point. Villarato :coffee:

Also, could someone point out a specific point in time during which diving was not a part of the game as the OP suggests?

Ain't Messi's dive clear enough to avoid another Messi v Ronaldo debate?

1) Not really. I don't think it was a dive (although the fall was exaggerated), but I don't think it was a foul either. There was clear contact and was undeserving of a yellow. Nevermind, having gone over the video a few more times I'm ready to accept it was a dive Razz

2) By paying attention to jiopsi and commenting on his remarks you're only helping this thread to become a Barca vs Madrid thread. The best course of action is to ignore him.

There is clear trip and pushing movement of the right leg, and Messi goes down. There is clear trip movement in Cronaldos case, but Cronaldo clearly leaves the foot there, not that Messi couldn't have stayed up. But why should he when defenders ain't playing it fair?

1) He simulated his fall ffs.

2) I'm trying to make him stop. I could've just deleted his post but that would be unfair.

That's the point! It's a dive.

He fell intentionally hence a dive. Stop Justifying his actions.

I'am going to ignore Cristiano's case because everybody know he dived and there is no justifying that.

No it isn't, it's a dive when the fall isn't warranted. Defender clearly was fouling, or trying to foul there.

That reasoning makes diving part of the game.

Simulated fall = Dive.

So we have to assume that Messi is good enough to stay up that foul because he's the best at staying at his feet? In that case there is clearly different rules for Messi and everybody else. Which btw is clear from the penalty shouts this year.

Real Madrid vs Barca. Cool

We all know Serie A and EPL fans whine at this because they are not the center of attention. :lol!:

@Jiopsi: It's a dive bro.

Any intention to simulate a foul should be dealt with.

You're the one who makes different rules for Messi from everyone else.

Messi can stay up from that challenge(which I'm sure he can) but instead falls down easily to get a penalty.

Easily a Dive.

Unbelievable.

EDIT : @Lord Hispano : I'm not arguing about Ronaldo so this is not considered as Barca v Madrid Very Happy

Back to topic... why there is so much diving in the game and how can we stop it and is it ever justified?

Yellow Cards or Match Suspensions will help. But Diving is as human as the Players and Refs.

Diving shall presist.

I think it was Van Persie last season when he was questioned about did he dive and he said he didn't dive, but sometimes exaggerates fouls.

I think diving can be a wee bit justified if there has been a foul / contact, that wouldn't really cause the player to fall down, but he wants the referee to notice the contact. Although this also is a very blurred line.
