Re: David Silva as a False 9
Xabi is the second highest goalscorer on the team in the Del Bosque era,
with 11 goals, one more than forward Fernando Torres. Only David Villa
has scored more goals than Xabi in this time

do u seriously have Cesc Fabregas as a CF for Spain? or even as a False 9? David Silva in this role is pushing it... but Fabregas there is laughable... im sorry.

Re: David Silva as a False 9
Silva can play as false 9. Villa on the left, Pedro on the right.
Also it should be one of Busquets or Alonso in the middle, not both, especially if Silva does play as false 9.
Xavi isn't an AM to play ahead of 2 DM's.

Re: David Silva as a False 9
Not to mention Xabi is willing to take a bullet for the team while Biscuits likes to pretend that he did.
Also
second top scorer.

Actually he has played well as a false 9 for Barca. He has good finishing and can create too.

Re: David Silva as a False 9
No Silva would fail in the role.
for one he is no Messi, not even close.Secondly he doesnt score enough.

Re: David Silva as a False 9
A good false 9 needs to be good at beating players and shooting/passing while also taking bumps.
Silva would get bullied by CB's if he played there.
Unless the EPL can change that for him.

Re: David Silva as a False 9
He's good at shooting however so are a lot of other DM's like Essien, Yaya Toure, Pirlo and Schweinstiger.
Also Iniesta and Xavi as CM's is more effective.
----------Busquets
------Xavi---------Iniesta
-Pedro--------------------Villa
-----------Silva/Torres/Fabregas

Re: David Silva as a False 9
Silva hasn't scored enough maybe because he hasn't actually played as a false 9 before?
Also in terms of what is required from a false 9:
Passing - Check
Intelligent shooting - Check
Good Dribbling - Check
The CB's wouldn't really even be near him as he'd usually be deep.

Re: David Silva as a False 9
Firstly spain and barca tactics arent the same, secondly formation=/=tactics thirdly yhe only reason fabregas is playing false 9 is because messi is next to him.mtfootball wrote:king_alex10 wrote:Khaledbarca wrote:Villa-Cesc-Silva

Re: David Silva as a False 9
Silva has the movement of a false 9, but his finishing is lacklustre. Thats all he has over fab tbh, his on the ball movement, off the ball they are similar, finishing fab is better. Silva is silkier and is sexier on the ball. But the whole false 9 thing is getting talked about far too much tbh. The model false 9 is still Totti.

exactly.
And not to mention, Fabregas doesnt have the strength and tenacity to play that role... Messi, even with his shorter size, has the hunger, the speed, the grit, the drive, and the intensity to fight through defenses... he has the skill to hold onto the ball... and he makes it look easy...
Fabregas and Silva (Silva would be better at it) would get bullied too much IMO... that is just IMO, but I dont think it would work.

OP I guess. Tactics should suit players in given squads not the other way around.king_alex10 wrote:Divine Intervention wrote:Someone read a tactic book first time in their life.

I mean, he is going by what he saw in a performance... which worked.
In the long run, I dont see it being effective

He'll fail in false nine role against any decent technical CB pair.

Re: David Silva as a False 9
Spain pretty much have Barca's midfield and attack except Messi. Barca are successful so Spain should use that as an advantage and use similar tactics.

Re: David Silva as a False 9
Firstly spain tactics are alot different from barca tactics, any one who says both uses same tactics are tactically inept. .Xabi-Busquet duo has been very successful as it gives extra protection needed for a international match defensively with out giving away creativity as Alonso is one hell of a creative player at the same time being defensively good. Also Iniesta starting on wings and dropping into midfield to link up with the midfield has been an extreamly successful tactics Del bosque developed as it drags the opposition full backs alot inside and makes space for Ramos/Enrique to overlap (reason why Ramos was one of the best player against Germany ) and simply out numbers the midfield to control the match.mtfootball wrote:Spain pretty much have Barca's midfield and attack except Messi. Now the David silva situation.Since VDB will always play with that double pivot with busquet placed bit lower as a sweeper midfielder only option silva has is to play in front three of Espana.Since Iniesta is already starting in front 3 and atleast 2 goal scorers are needed i cant see silva getting a start ahead 2 other goal scorers as it will definitely affect their scoring probability.Silva might get a chance if either of iniesta, xabi or xavi is injured though.
Re: David Silva as a False 9
Actually Spain would be a lot more attacking if they used 1 DM instead of 2. Also nothing can beat the Xavi and Iniesta combination.

Re: David Silva as a False 9
considering silva's biggest asset is final third creativity and his finishing sucks donkey balls i'm going to hazard a guess that a fluke game against scotland (...) shouldn't warrant a change of position...
