As players - not much.
It's more that he plays for Madrid and is from a middle eastern country and they both come from same religion (islam)

I've always asked myself: is Turkey part of Europe or Asia and is it considered "Middle East"?
But yeah, I guess it's just Islam because they don't even speak the same language.
