Branko Culina has been sacked as the coach of the Newcastle Jets four days before the A-League season begins, despite having recently signed a five year deal. No reasons have been given, however there have been suggestions that Branko was aware of the trouble plaguing his son before he signed a deal worth $2.65million to Jason as the club's marquee signing before he was recently forced to undergo two knee operations with no exact recovery date, though Jets owner Tinkler has stated that they might be without him throughout his three seasons for which he has been signed.

The club attempted to have his contract set aside, but have been told they must honour Jason Culina's $800,000 a year contract.

Wow... what a difficult situation with Jason... Feel sorry for him, I really rate him, probably our best CM really. He's just had his injury troubles and now he's getting too old, I'd rather see Kilkenny in there from now on. Still, its a shame he probably won't end his career nicely.

Heard about Branko... tbh he hasn't done a lot to impress me anyway.
