Re: Gianluca Rocchi banned from arbitrating Inter games
The thing about this, is that it doesnt even matter in the long run.
The guy that *bleep* Italy in the Korea WC got the stick, and is now serving a jail sentence for smuggling heroin in the US, so there is absolutely no arguing about him being a corrupt criminal swine. What difference does that make, when Italy was *bleep*, and future generations will only know that 'magical South Korea was 4th in the world under Hiddink', and for the next WC he will be replaced with another corrupt or woefully inadequate official from god knows where.
Its just a show for the fans, a feeble attempt at feeding the illusion that they are actually doing something right, which of course is not the case.

Doing something is better than doing nothing.

While this is a pretty LOL worthy way to deal with such problems.
If we went down this road there would be no more refs to officiate games LOL

well,if it was just one or two games, but seriously 7 red cards in 11 games he participated for inter is pretty ridiculousZealous wrote:While this is a pretty LOL worthy way to deal with such problems.

Re: Gianluca Rocchi banned from arbitrating Inter games
This isn't correct
AIA rejected our request for disqualification on the grounds that it would open the floodgates for every team to start trying to disqualify certain refs, and there aren't enough quality officials around to begin with
Rocchi has been suspended for 2-3 games and we will not see him again until 2012 (probably spring), where, in all likelihood, he'll get assigned to us again but in a game that is considered to be "easy"

I read he's banned from officiating Inter games till the end of this season, pending definite decision.

hmm...well this is what I got from Gazzetta, I dunno if Corriere or someone else is running something different:
Gazzetta wrote:MILAN - Yes to a stop but not to the disqualification. These are the decisions taken by Stefano Braschi with the full support of AIA (Associazione Italiana Arbitri) president Marcello Nicchi against Gianluca rossi after the disastrous performance in Inter-Napoli. The referee from Florence will be suspended for at least two or three matchdays. Could return to the field at the end of October. Certainly for a few months, he will not cross paths with the Nerazzurri, but AIA has sent back the request of full disqualification (meaning no more Rocchi in an Inter game ever again) and that is why it is very likely that Rocchi will return directing an Inter game next spring, perhaps in a game that considered to be easy.
Impossible request - So the question is why did the AIA reject Inter's request? Well, first and foremost, the autonomy of referee designation is considered sacred by the high-ups in the AIA. Second, this one is the numerical aspect. After the splitting of CAN into two divisions, Braschi, in Serie A, can only count on 20 referees. And if they accepted a request that is similar to Inter's then, other teams might do the same. In short, there is the risk of not having enough referees. Roma made the same request against referee Rosso after his disastrous game in Brescia-Roma but it was rejected and Rosso reffed a Roma game few months later. It is clear that Braschi will do the same for Inter regarding Rocchi. Morale: assigning referees belongs to AIA especially after Calciopoli.

Re: Gianluca Rocchi banned from arbitrating Inter games
he needs to be banned from any game in which milan would benefit from a certain result in any way positive way
whenever he's refereed a game with us or any other big team besides milan i have this feeling of dread that he's gonna ruin the game
there's only two games i've hated watching as an inter fan, inter vs milan and inter vs barca (motta red card via busquets diving/play acting). we won both those games but after both i had such a crap feeling because the games were ruined, it didn't even matter that we won them. i didn't blame the ref in the barca game that was down to barca trying to con the ref. the milan game was the worst by far because rocchi was fully to blame for being obviously biased against us
