Beckham could join PSG!!!
According to Yahoo.fr, PSG officials will travel to LA to talk Beckham into signing for PSG in January 2012.
2 weeks ago, in a BBC interview, Leonardo mentioned the possibility of seeing Beckham donning the blue and red of PSG, "the door is open" he said.
Le Parisien is confirming that both men talked about such transfer in August already, and they both have a very good relationship from their time in Italy.
The Qatari owners are aware that Beckham can propel the popularity of the french club to new heights across the world, so they decided to send some representatives in LA to convince Beckham to sign for PSG.

Re: Beckham could join PSG!!!
He would certainly warm the bench, although I haven't seen him play much since his Madrid days.

Has there been a more sought after, expensive old player than Beckham? Spend the cash on some young talent...

i heard he was being offered an amazing deal here in the MLS that would give him the opportunity of a life time and be owner of a club in the MLS in the future. Not sure if there was any truth behind it thought, anyone know anything on this?

The clear objective for PSG is to seal an CL spot, anything else is just a bonus?

@ all of you
the reason learndo wants beckhman has nothing really to do with his footballing ability but the fact that hes an international superstar
bringing becks into the team will automatically attract more people to home and away PSG games because hes such an icon, not to mention all the money theyll make selling things with his name/face on them, gloryhunters and fanboys will be jumping all over QSG if they can get becks
imo it should be a good bit of business if they can manke it happen

What's that term RM supporters always use? That's right... "shirt sales."
Brilliant move from PSG if they can bring him in.

Re: Beckham could join PSG!!!
I very much doubt David Beckham in this day and age can bump up attendances by more than 15%, i don't see why this might be a good move.
Allegedly Beckham earns 3.5m Euro in Salary a year, the Guardian is reporting he is willing to take a pay cut to secure a loan move because he is desperate to play. Ok, lets say David moves into PSG on a loan move worth PSG paying 2m Euro for his salary and a small fee of 1m Euro for a total of 3.5m Euro.
PSG earned 16m Euro for their matchday receipts in the 09/10 season, making them the third most attended club in France behind OL and OM and slightly above Bordeaux. Lets say David Beckham is a big hit and boosts crowd attendance by slightly more than 25% (very generous number), upping the crowd attendance revenue to about 18m Euro or so for the 6 months he'll be there (apparently the Galaxy wants him back).
So 2m Euro give or take in crowd attendance, plus some shirt sales thrown in who MIGHT be worth 2m again give or take, plus the long term benefits of marketing and presenting the team to an international audience plus appearing in the front pages a few times which will of course be great for the egomaniacal attention starved Billionaires owners of PSG minus agent fees, minus taxes and minus the disruption of the team when you bench one of your new star players to play a 30+ year old past the hill winger who is only passing by.
Obviously no one here can predict the future or crunch the real numbers, but by the look of it, this doesn't seem like a move worth PSG's resources or time and seems more like a vanity move.

15%!!!! do you know how much that is, if he could bump attendance by 2% QSG will be laughing
look do the math:
at QSG's last home game they had 40237 people in the crowd, assuming becks can increace the crowd by an average of 15%/game that means
0.15x40237=6035.55 extra people at the game
llets say each of these extra people spends an average of 45 Euros at the game, including ticket price (not sure what tickets are worth but its a guess)
6036x45=271600
so on average theres an extra 271600 euros in the pocket of the QSG owners per home game played, then times that by 19 home games
19x271600=5,160,780
so that means just from the extra people in the stadium due to becks being in the team, QSG will make 5,160,780euros more just from extra ticket sales and these people buying coffe, food etc in the gound
once you add in jersey and other merchandise sales seems like its quite a worth investment doesnt it seeing as becks entire salary is more then covered just be the 15% crowd increace
of course 15% is a horrible prediction at most itd be a ~2.5% increace which using the above working comes to an extra 860,130 euro just from excess ticket sales but really he pays for himself through merchandise sales, not additional ticket sales

Re: Beckham could join PSG!!!
If PSG or other clubs wait until his contract runs out then David will obviously not take a large pay cut (maybe none at all considering all the competition there will be such as Spurs who have shown interest in him and have the advantage of being in EPL).
Still not worth it IMO.

Attendances are almost never flat (unless you happen to be a super regular team with a huge history on the caliber of Manchester United or Arsenal) and 40,237 is a fantastic almost full attendance for the Parc des Princes Stade which holds 48,000+. A more realistic number would be their previous match day revenue numbers which i quoted the 09/10 season number (16m), but lets say to hell with realism!! David Beckham is such a huge star he will fill in week in and week out the stadium and rival OMs and OLs match day revenue of 25m Euro making it the biggest team in France!
Ok, that would be a a really big increment in match day revenue from 16m to 25m that would bring in 9m Euro which would pay his salary that year and there would still be left 5.5m Euro, insert the additional revenue David will bring in (plus the marketing bonanza!) and enough money will be left that maybe the finance sheet won't look that red this year and maybe Platini won't be so mad.
Now back to the real world for a bit, if PSG sign David as a free agent than how many years will he sign for? 3 years will mean an additional 7m Euro for the next two seasons that have to be payed, David would still have to make a marketing hat trick and continue to sell out the stadium for 2+ years which would be extremely hard if they slip out of the top 3 in competitive League 1 which would be likely considering the rotation that will happen once you enter a 30+ YO winger into the equation. Lets also factor in the huge risks that are likely to happen such as star players getting pissed wanting more money or bailing out of the team, possibly the coach and Leonardo getting sacked (including the fees and disruption this causes) and MOST CRUCIALLY OF ALL missing out on the Champions League qualification stage money where the real bucks are (around 15m-20m).
At this point the plausibility of Beckham bringing in considerable revenue is remote enough that we should be wise to STFU. If PSG really wants to bring in extra revenue than they should just start working hard and try to win League 1 and bring on constant Champions League Ka Ching in. Of course the Qattari owners know that they are no Wengers or Aulas and that constantly being on top requires enough "investment" to feed a poor African country and laugh hard at the idea of PSG being anything more than their latest summer toy rather than a "Business Venture".

Re: Beckham could join PSG!!!
Thinking purely in terms of finance is not very accurate here.
For a club like PSG and the level of ambition they have, exposure is invaluable. It's not just a matter of the attendance rising up, but the marginal benefit in terms of image.
How many people who never would click a PSG story, would now do? How many new fans now checking out PSG to see what beckham is doing, and who knows, they might discover Pastore and get hooked? That's the kind of impact he can have. More spotlight of PSG, more attention, the kind of factor that matters when you sell image rights, shirt rights, etc.., you gain more leverage to negotiate higher premiums.
Also another aspect he brings with him, his experience, professionalism, and winning culture. Remember PSG is a young team with a lot of players piece together, a guy like beckham in the locker room can prove very useful. He has a wealth of experience and competition at the highest level, he has been in Man Utd and Real Madrid lockers, he knows winning habits, and he can help make a difference, specially for those young players.

Disagree, why?
L.A. Galaxy and Florentino Perez presented thoughts similar to yours and brought in David Beckham at the height of his popularity exactly to boost theirs brands. It arguably worked somehow at first both boosting the Galacticos brand to bigger heights and constantly selling out the Galaxys stadium and bringing in bigger deals at first, great. Then what happened???
The on the pitch action suffered and crowds stopped paying attention. Madrid was in a sea of debt and Florentino was sacked, the Galaxy deal has failed to bring in the attention they hoped would happen to MLS and their huge deal was suddenly a fiasco. Both were arguably failed experiments.
But as a Madrid fan you obviously know that you can buy success and enjoy all the marketing boost that brings in, Florentino Perez now knows the 2 rules that you need to do in order to make this work:
1.- Be the biggest, most ridiculous giant kid in town
1 mega star like Beckham is not enough in this day and age, you need many huge names like Ronaldo, Kaka, Zidane, and Figo to make it work. Like a car crash, people just cannot look away when your team is so star studded.
2.-On the pitch success is as important as marketing success
You got their attention with the big stars, but if you unbalance the team and you slip away from the top, people will run away as quick as they came. When Makelele left and Beckham came in, that was the ominous sign for the death of the first galacticos.
I just cannot see Beckham and Pastore robbing international attention away from CR7/Real Madrid and Messiah/Barcelona.
