Elections aren't early, Zapatero (Mr. Bean look alike) has just called the election (I think it's early Nov) although they have been in campaign mode for a couple of months. It's difficult to say who will win. Zapatero is not running and it looks like a toss-up between his successor and Rajoy. Rajoy has pissed a lot of people off with his opposition tactics, but at the same time Zapatero has ruined economy. Problem in Spain is almost everyone is on the receiving end of some government job or benefits and therefore are inclined to put existing government back in. If logic pervailed it would be Rajoy by a land slide, but who knows. We have pretty well come to the conclusion that the economy is screwed for quite some time.

As for rift with cataluna, that's nothing new and should have no effect on election.

During these times many who vote for the left are just delaying the problem and making it bigger its just like a cancer, I hope the spanish people follow logic as well.
