You mad?
What I have seen of Scholes which is a considerable amount, he is no where near Xavi and never has been.
Which is it? Make up your mind....if your going to lie at least do a better job ffs

Did you not read my first full post?
I have seen ALOT of Scholes just not from the begining of the decade/when there was no EPL love hype in Aus.
Europe / later than 04/05 I have seen alot of Scholes and Xavi is better from that.
Happy? ffs

Re: Xavi vs Scholes
Also scholes never had a master piece to remember like xavi vs germany or xavi vs Arsenal.
Heck even last CL final man of the match was xavi.

Re: Xavi vs Scholes
guys... you have no idea what you're talking about regarding Scholes. Not that good? No masterpiece?? Give me a break.
Go to yhis link which has quotes from all his peers regarding Scholes http://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/editorial/2011/05/31/2511609/undoubtedly-the-greatest-midfielder-of-his-generation-what
He was undoubtedly one of the best of his generation. Know your football people.

"In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen — the most complete — is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular player who has everything. If he was Spanish then maybe he would have been valued more"
Quote from Xavi himself
"My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder. Scholes is undoubtedly the greatest midfielder of his generation"
Zidane
There's about 10 of these types of quotes in the link i gave you.

Putting up the same quotes over and over won't change the quotes. Cryuff once said CR7 is better than George Best and Denis Law but it doesn't mean people in the forum will share this opinion.

That's just Cruyff... one man. Scholes was/is unanimously considered the best by his peers and also by current players. I'm old enough to have watched his entire career as an adult.. and i hated Man U then. But I still could not deny the greatness of Scholes. In fact, if you have to ask me who was the most complete midfielder for that generation, i would pick Scholes over Zidane (Zidane was the better football player, but less complete). He did everything well. No weakness. Not one.

Re: Xavi vs Scholes
Actually more than one person said he was up there with the best but that won't change this forum's opinion. Some players will say Zidane or Matthaus was the best. I only provided 1 quote about CR7 just to use an e.g.

Couldn't defend to save his life though, terrible terrible tackling technique
But in all other aspects you'd be right, even though i occasionally hate on Man U, i could never deny the brilliance of Paul Scholes.
If we're talking about who would be the best midfielder in his generation, i'd think we best make a list of who all falls into that category as not to get mixed up with other greats that were not playing at the same lvl at that point in time.
So it would be:
Scholes
Seedorf
Riquelme
Juninho
Ze Roberto
Veron
Recoba
Im missing a few

Re: Xavi vs Scholes
Seedorf was a number 10 at first ,still remember his two long range goals that gave inter meelan a 2-2 draw against Juventus.
Re: Xavi vs Scholes
Youri Djorkaeff should be in there too. Never got to play on the NT because Zizou was in front of him. But he was a very, very good am and had a great club career.

Re: Xavi vs Scholes
But Djorkaeff played on the team with Zidane.

He almost never played on the Nt. He backed up Zidane. Check out his club career though. Inter fans should chip in here lol.

You dont rate zizou? Zidane was born in 1972 while scholes was born in 1974. They are from the same generation..

Redondo was a generation before scholes, or rather was in decline when scholes was in his prime else i would've added the likes of Rui Costa, Albertini ect.

Yeah was a quality player but belongs with the group before scholes, with the Bobans , Costa's, Zizou's ect.
What i will say though is that Scholes had the best volley shot technique in his generation, countless volleys from corners in the good old days.

They are from the same generation mate. There is only a 2 year gap between them and scholes.

Re: Xavi vs Scholes
I had prepared a long post but my page timed out
Yes the isn't much of an age gap but their primes vary's greatly, Zizou, Boban , Djorkaeff primed in the 90's whereas Scholes was good up until 2008, him and seedorf are both eligible for 2 era's but the others don't , the ones i added were primed in the 00's and later , Scholes is in a grey area sort of speak.
Scholes started his career in the mid 90's whilst Zizou's started at the late 80's. I use the term generation to indicate players which i think played in the same era that includes those who peaked, developed and played.
Tbh i really don't want to put Zizou in the mix because that will open the door to other midfielders as well.

Even after the 90s Zizou was among the best players.
