Re: Mr Noodles - Angel Di Maria
A few myths to debunk about Di Maria:
First and foremost, we are Real Madrid, we'd have liked him to stay, but life goes on, and one player leaving should not destabilize the franchise regardless of who it is.
I keep hearing this talk that di maria was only good for 6 months, granted people are trying to get over his exit, but that's just ridiculous. the guy's original position (at benfica and probably even rosario) was as a left winger, not a right winger, not an inside forward, not central mid; but left winger. So one can make the argument that since his arrival at madrid he wasn't even played in his primary role
let's not forget, he also became one of mourinho's sure starters; the 3 in the 4231 formation of mou for the most part was ronaldo, ozil, di maria...and we know how difficult it is for mourinho to start players who blow hot one day cold another (ozil had his 60 minute issues, but that's another story)
di maria didn't even get the right wing position automatically, as ridiculous as this sounds, remember members of the spanish press were keen on pedro leon (who is originally a right midfielder) getting playing time .....lol spanish media
people say the guy did well for 6 months, but the reality of the situation is he only had a bad year at madrid, and that year, which was mourinho's last, everyone was terrible...his decision making lapses came mainly in huge games, but he more than made up for that with his willingness to run e.g outstripping valdez to get that away goal, destroying puyol, his cross to ronaldo in that copa del rey
now more recently, last season he got relegated to the bench by bale, and carlo found a spot in the middle of the park for him when he was supposed to head to monaco for like 35 million...carlo didn't just put him there because he likes him, lets not forget, bale got injured and di maria started, and had some fantastic games at rw last season...and we all know what happened at central mid i don't need to repeat that...
i'm more worried about the manner in which he and some of our players have been sold than the fact we sold a top player. the sale may bring trophies, and james may be a good deal, BUT, we can't expect player loyalty with the way we have handled some of our business

Di Maria’s Father: “They never offered 6m euros, the biggest offer was 5m, 1.5m more than he earned.”

Close the thread JD please. What's done is done. He wanted to leave, wanted MU. He was replaced by someone who wanted Madrid.
