Gambling problems? Empty Gambling problems?

Post by spanky Thu Sep 15, 2011 12:48 am

I dont really have a problem myself but i want to share with you guys something that happened to my friend.

its funny and a bit sad to be honest, anyway my friend is albanian and he imports kebab meat from germany and distributes it to all the kebab delis over here, anyway if it werent for his gambling problems he would be filthy rich. So listen to this, few weeks ago he was at the local casino in the city we live in. And in this casino are 2 electronically controlled roulettes, which means that the computer ejects the ball and it spins around the roulette under a protective glass dome. You select your bet electronically and then wait for the ball to stop into a numbered socket..... anyways its obvious that these roulettes are magnetically controlled so that the casino is never in a loss. So my friend, who we call mickey(i dont know why we call him mickey because his real name is mohammed lolz....) was playing roulette there and he bet 1000 euros on the black color, which means he gets 2000 if it indeed falls black and nothing if red... anways he lost the first bet and placed the next bets on the color black for the next 13 consecutive times with the same amount of money, and the ball fell red 14 times in a row!!!! this bizarre occurence prompted my friend mickey to take a nearby chair and break the glass dome with it and physically move the ball into a black socket with his hand Very Happy nevertheless he lost 14000 euros and is now banned from the casino.

anyways share your interesting gambling/betting stories with us

The problem is after losing something, your human instincts wants to win it back, so you keep playing and never learn when to quit. Luckily, gambling is prohibited by my religion.
$14000, that's rent,food,water,heat,cloth for 4 years...... for me.

I do a little betting (almost solely on football games) and am approximately €200-400 down over some 3-4 years. But I don't really try to win money with it, most of the time I place small bets on matches I would otherwise be neutral on, so when you've got money on a certain result it makes it more exciting to watch.

Is playing poker sometimes on weekends with friends considered as gambling? Very Happy If yeah, then I play quite often but overall I won more or less of what I have paid Very Happy

@spanky, your friends has got the same problem as my friend and many others. I use the tactic in poker. If the stakes are high from the start they tend to bet more money with less hesitation because they're already 'in' Very Happy It takes some courage to pass... Very Happy

I use to have a gambling problem, the only game I like to play is poker, now all I do is play for fun with free chips for free on line. If you want to win dont gamble is what I learned. Very Happy

Your friend lost nothing compared to people I know.

Have you ever heard of hidden private casinos? Thats probably the dirtiest gambling you can find.

Losing 100k up to 500k overnight.

Luckily, I never found that attractive, I dont bet on football either, people are losing money on these too and they hate unpredictable ArsenaL :d.

We used to play over the weekends with friends only (NO STRANGER ALLOWED)... We lost/won up to 200-500 dollars but thats about it.

Now, I dont even play Megamillion. Costs $1.00

I looked up this thread pretty much just to vent.

This weekend I have lost $600 at the casino. In fairness this is chump change to people who have been gambling all their life or who have money, but I'm a student who still hasn't been paid by the professor I worked for over the summer (laziest man in the world), and I have seriously *bleep* myself. The first two times I went I did pretty well, winning $150 one time and $180 the other on black jack, but this weekend I went with a birthday party group there and found myself losing $100 every hour for 5 hours. I literally got 1 black jack all night, and only within 5 times did I get a 20. I kept getting 15s and 16s, and always busted when I hit. The cards were shit, but I couldn't stop because I kept telling myself I'd win it back, as I'd always done in the past. I also would never leave when I did okay for a little spell because I knew I'd have to wait for the people I came with if I stopped gambling. On Sunday afternoon I went with my family and lost another $100.

I have learned 3 things: 1) never go gambling after Arsenal lose a game. 2) never bet what you can't afford to lose. 3) actually, never gamble again, ever!

I know this is small-scale, but the point still stands: gambling sucks when you're doing it solely to win money.

Spoiler alert!!!!! I hadn't finished the game yet.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm glad I never really gambled much in my life.

I think I would become addicted. When I was 21-23, I went through this mini phase where I purchased those scratch off lotto tickets. It probably lasted a few weeks or a month before I realized it wasn't worth it.

I was thinking about playing Fifa online for money.

P.S. 600 dollars might be small scale, but in my opinion it's a lot.

Haha yeah I thought it was kind of a big deal, but obviously when I saw some of the stories of others in this thread I didn't want to complain too much!

Now playing FIFA for money...that sounds like a good idea.
