Sarabia played well against Villarreal. Looked calm on the ball and tried to create for his team at every chance.

Nothing spectacular but he didn't look like he was overwhelmed by the level of football in the first division.

I think he is slowly getting used to la liga then. He looked very nervous at first, was trying to rush things, would lose easy balls etc... nice.

BUMP

Sarabia did well in a substitute appearance was his usual calm self on the ball and didn't look out of his depth again.

Wasn't his team's best player I'd say Abel was but he wasn't far off IMO.

I know he's not a cantera, but has anyone seen Drenthe this year? I just heard his coach blasting him for getting red card late in the game that cost them the game. Is he still up to his silliness or is he in any way displaying talent that we thought we had bought (instead of keeping Mata). - By the way Nick, it wasn't that Mata was demanding 1st team money, he was demanding a legitimate shot at the 1st team.

Speaking of canteras, Javi Garcia is having yet another good year in Portugal. How is Pedro Leon doing? And what about Juan Carlos and Mateos at Zaragoza/

Drenthe is being Drenthe LOL. On potential level alone he could still be a great player. I don't know he just doesn't look like he will reach that level.

Javi Garcia is still doing great in Portugal. Regular with Benfica and has been doing well in the CL.

Just read that Pedro Leon has a injury that will keep him out for 5 weeks.

This means that 3 of Mou's discarted are out (or misbehaving). Does anyone know how Garay and Gago are doing?

He is actually playing great for Everton. He made a stupid decision and got himself sent off, but he was one of the best players on the pitch I think lol.

Madrid DNA :coffee:

When it comes to strikers who can read the game, position themselves and make good off the ball runs we are great at producing these types of players.

Very Happy

Raul, Morientes, Etoo, Negredo, Soldado, Rodrigo, Morata... Just amazing in strikers generally. You can count Mata as an attacker too I guess. Callejon doesnt really fall into the same bracket though. Very Happy

Sarabia take a bow son.

man of the match display against Estonia for the under 21 side (A team that had Thiago in it, just sayin')

Rodrigo tore sh*t up as well. with a hat trick.

Seriously you can't tell me that they aren't talented because they are. I hope we give them a shot here soon.

Sarabia played on the wings but he cut in and helped with midfield a lot.

He isn't that fast but he has a nice burst of pace and added with his touch it means he can beat defenders very well.

His passing is sex, but we already knew that.

He has decent speed and a great left foot. Like most Spanish players now a days he'll pass before he'll think about dribbling his man.

He always makes forward runs and someone with vision will take advantage of that. He's a good player I like him.

Maybe not in the same league as Sarabia or Jese though as far playing in the wide positions though.

Canteros Watch - Page 3 Empty Re: Canteros Watch

Post by Mr Nick09 Sun Nov 13, 2011 8:18 pm

No one was surprised when 24-year-old Fran Rico left Castilla and set course for the First Division. His departure was more than announced, although for a while his destination was uncertain. He was linked to Deportivo la Coruña and Celta de Vigo, both teams from his homeland; but Depor’s relegation and Celta’s permanence in the Second Division made any operation impossible. Curiously, it would be the team who frustrated Celta’s promotion, Granada, who would finally sign me.

In the middle of a flood of signings and in the attempt to raise the quality of the newly promoted squad, Fran Rico’s incorporation for 1 million Euros (at that moment, the most expensive signing of the club, currently, the second most expensive) did not attract too much attention. Fans did not trust much a player coming from a Segunda División B team, and only the effort of the Galician coach, Fabri, made it possible for Fran to land in Los Cármenes.

Fran dazzled in the preseason matches- at La Manga where only a few fans were able to watch and certify how well the ex-castillista midfielder had played- but he didn’t touch the ball in the first league games, with a team in which only the more flashy signings seemed to have a spot. It had to be in Anoeta, against Real Sociedad, where everything changed: Fran played less than half an hour, but he showed so many sparkles of quality that he was named one of the men of the match. In the next game, at Los Cármenes, he came off the bench to score a ‘golazo’ and tie the match. Since then, Fran has been a starter, and has become an idol to the fans. Just about all his performances have verged upon perfection; only a little bump against Barcelona, that has vastly compensated by his performance against Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán – included the comeback-. He hasn’t struggled to adapt since he performs the same role he had played with Castilla: he defends and intelligently cuts off the rivals’ plays, while he is the strategist of his team, the one who distributes the game.
His implication, his passes, his clear-sighted vision of the game has caused Granada’s fans to fall in love with him. Long past is his arrival to Valdebebas as a promising player from Pontevedra’s academy. Long past is his harsh injury, his recovery, his comeback as one of the most important player in the team, his indisputable role as captain of Castilla. Surpassing all that, Fran faces a bigger challenge: to consolidate in the first division, perhaps to make the jump to a superior team. Everything is on his side: quality, circumstances, and the most important thing, the attitude of an authentic fighter.
