El Shaaraway or Menez
El Shaarawy or Menez?
After Genoa rejected a 10 million move for 18 year year old boy wonder El Shaarawy from the inferior side from Milan, Inter's interest has cooled down. Now their mighty cousins AC Milan has emerged as the frontrunner to sign the highly rated half Egyptian, half Italian.

Reports have also emerged that Milan could sign French winger Jeremy Menez from Roma. Galliani is willing to offer a straight swap between Boriello and Menez. Roma still own Milan 11 million euros for Boriello.
So out of these two, who would you prefer, milanistas?

Thefuture of promising Genoa youngster Stephan El Shaarawy could lie at San Siro, as reigning Serie A champions AC Milan lead the chase for the attacking midfielder, Il Giornale reports.
El Sharaawy has previously been linked with Inter, but Milan now appear to be front-runners as the club's vice-president, Adriano Galliani, has been in touch with Genoa president Enrico Preziosi to discuss a possible transfer.
Milan are eager to add some more creativity to their squad and have previously been linked with Napoli's Marek Hamsik and Santos star Ganso. However, they are reluctant to spend a considerable amount on a new attacking midfielder, and have therefore turned their attention to a cheaper alternative in El Shaarawy.
The 18-year-old has an ongoing contract with Genoa, and their €10 million asking price is significantly lower than what Napoli and Santos are demanding for their star players.
Genoa farmed El Shaarawy out on loan to Padova forthe 2010-11 campaign, and the attacking midfielder has been in outstanding form for the Serie B side, helping them to a promotion play-off spot.
Reports have also emerged that Milan could sign French winger Jeremy Menez from Roma. Galliani is willing to offer a straight swap between Boriello and Menez. Roma still own Milan 11 million euros for Boriello.
So out of these two, who would you prefer, milanistas?

Re: El Shaarawy or Menez?
Menez is far too inconsistent for my liking. He possesses the ability to dribble past defenders and time to time may have a defense splitting pass, but usually he's got his mind elsewhere and isn't someone I'd like at Milan.
El Shaawary though is young and could turn out to be something very big. I don't think we'll get him but I would prefer him over Menez. He has so much time to grow and doesn't have the same attitude problems.
Just letting it be known I voted Neither.

I am all for young talents , El shaarawi knows italian football well althought he didn't play in serie A much but he has played there for a long time now , We should take him and improve him to the trequartista we need in the coming years , and since i am egyptian Yeah i prefer El shaarawi :farao:

Neither.
I don't like Menez.
And Shaarawy has proved nothing yet. And he's not 10-15 million euros.

You've got a good point here. I want to see some action before we fork out the cash. Perhaps we're all getting carried away with our club's investment in a guy who promises to fulfill the role of our newest youthful and exciting talent, then again, it's about taking a risk:
Buy early = pay less
Buy late = pay more/miss out altogether/miss out to a rival!
But, yes, it's very possible that this guy could flop, although I hope not. :farao:

If you want to be safe. Get Menez.
If you want to look for the future then surely the Shaarawy

I mean he's played some games in the Serie B, but it's not proving anything to me. People will post all the videos of the game where he played against Novara. But neither Novara nor Padova are big sides...
I'm not buying the argument that this kid is the next Totti... and is it true he's more of a winger? He certainly has no use for us then.

No he is a natural Trequartista, the kid has huge talent. I do agree with you though, if we get Ganso we don't need him. I just we don't turn into Inter Milan

Re: El Shaarawy or Menez?
I always rank quality over nationality. And how do we know if he is a huge talent? A few games in the Serie B isn't enough for me.

Not a few games, he was Padova's main man over the season.

But that's just Padova. As I said before, I wouldn't be opposed to co-ownership. We seem to do that a lot with Genoa. We have a close business relationship. It's worked out well for us in most instances, except say for Sokratis.

Re: El Shaarawy or Menez?
El Shaarawy basically just committed his future to Milan, he would choose us over Juve and Inter. Also, we are in the process of negotiation as we speak.

Sorry to sound skeptical, but you have any source? The most recent stuff I found about El Shaarawy and Milan is this:
Genoa midfielder Stephan El Shaarawy has admitted that he would jump at the chance to sign for AC Milan.
The 18-year-old spent the last season on loan at Padova, whom he helped reach the final of the Serie B play-offs, where they were defeated by Novara.
El Shaarawy is highly regarded in Italy, with with both Inter and AC Milan reportedly interested in his services, but the midfielder has now declared his preference goes to the Serie A champions.
"I like AC Milan because I have been a fan of theirs since I was a child," he told Sky Sport 24.
"My idol is Kaka and he has always inspired me.
"It would be a dream come true to be part of a team like AC Milan."

We have already made first contact, I'm not saying we will sign him for sure, but we have contacted Genoa over the possibility

I'm not optimistic about this. Preziosi will milk him up as much as he can, just like Criscito.

We've had business dealings in the past with Genoa. I think it's possible we could get a fair deal like we did with Boateng.
