How to instill fear upon your team
Source.
Amid turmoil within his club, Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath has imposed a code of conduct for his players on and off the pitch, and established a system of fines for all those found to be non-compliant, according to a report from Bild.
The trainer has been known to be a strict disciplinarian, and recently was said to have deducted €10,000 from Patrick Helmes' wages after the player was judged to have not worked hard enough when out of possession in a recent 3-0 loss to Freiburg.
Now, the coach is said to have taken his punishments a step further. According to the report, those late for team meetings and training sessions will be fined €100 for every minute they are late, and any player found wearing headphones while on the team bus will be docked €250.
For transgressions on the pitch, the fines become more severe: an unnecessary back-pass could cost a player €1,000, while a defender allowing a ball to bounce in front of him rather than clearing directly will be fined €500.
Ulf Baranowsky, a representative of the Players' Union VDV, vehemently opposed Magath's alleged system of fines.
"To impose a monetary penalty because a player has performed poorly, is strictly prohibited [by law]," he said. "An assessment is not objectively ascertainable. Anyone who resists legally has a good chance."
Magath has refused to publicly comment on the matter. After four matches, Wolfsburg are 15th in the Bundesliga table, having lost three consecutive games.

1000 for a backpass. He's never coaching Barcelona.
