Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
Ecuador didn't know how to handle him. Every time Messi touched the ball it lead to either a display of class, a chance or a goal. It was definitely one of his better games for the NT, I feel like they were lucky he only got an assist and a goal. He was splendid.

It was a highlight worthy moment just about everytime he had a touch of the ball...Imperious performance and you could just see that he was particularly motivated on the night...Perhaps he had a message?

Higuain has openly said he thinks Messi is better. So we know where his allegiance lies.

Huagain has always been best mates with Mascherano and Messi but I also find the relationship with Di Maria has dramatically improved throughout the last few games...

If they can get Di Maria a brain, that trident would steamroll everyone

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
Masch would be in defense as well. I think he so much suited towards that position though you may need someone a bit taller than him partnering him.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
I like Mascherano in midfield if they are going to play this style.
He likes to spray passes wide and long, in midfield he is in the ideal position for it and because there is alot of counter attack going on, his lack of ideas and speed of decision on the ball are irrelevant.

Real Madrid's Marcelo: Messi is the best player in the world
Brazil left-back Marcelo has heaped praise on Lionel Messi, saying the Argentine is the best player on the planet.
The Selecao will tackle Argentina on Saturday and will be looking to bounce back from Sunday's 2-0 defeat against Mexico, which ended a run of eight consecutive victories.
Despite meeting Messi several times throughout the season at club level, Marcelo says there is always a special feeling to locking horns with the Barcelona star - whom he rated higher than his Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Right now, Messi is the best player in the world and it is a pleasure to play against him," Marcelo told Globoesporte.
"We will see what happens, if we can mark him. Argentina are more attacking [than Mexico], so we will have space to play.
"But we need to be careful, because they can score goals easily. You cannot talk about one or two players only, but about their entire team.
"But we also have several good players and we will try to secure a good result."
Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
Messi is ridiculous. I watched the Argentina game and immediately he got the ball, four players surrounded him. If he doesn't win the Balon D'or, I will lose faith in football, although that whole award is a farce anyway.
What annoys me is that for Argentina he is playing a #10. HE does everything for that NT team, even with the likes of Kun and Di maria. Best player since Diego for me, easily.

Well good for Marcelo to say that, just like Di Maria and Higuain..they might be Madrid players but that doesnt give them a licence to be blind.

Messi this year woke up with Argentina, second hat trick for his national side, and in the same season, 3 games = 7 goals.. What a beast.

What Messi doesn't perform in Internattionals like Ronaldo? I can sense Argentina rebuilding and Messi peaking his best for Internationals.

Who cares if it a bad defense or not its a boost for him and Argentina. Brazil with a crap defense is still better than many of the other teams in Europe.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi
3rd goal must be the best goal he scored so far in terms the strike technique, can remember some other nice ones but this must be his best
even though the defense was bad in this game it was great goal, even better it was a last minute winner. I know i dont praise messi that often but i do think he is amazing
