I'd say being short improves your leg-coordination which leads to more clinical passes, better dribbling and an overall higher level of technique. There are plenty of exceptions, though. That being said, being tall overall benefits many positions that don't rely on this, such as GKs, CBs, DMs, CFs. Overall there is a healthy mix between the two.

A short striker can completely be nullified if he plays alone up front. But playing a short guy in the SS role does wonders.. ex Silva, Mata, Suarez, Nishank.
