Lahm was right
Although, his book came out too early (He should've done it after retirement), he shared some interesting info. According to him, Klinsmann is inept as a coach and acts more like a motivator. I checked USA's last game and surprise, surprise they performed worse under him
I'll wait some more to judge him properly but USA fans,I don't envy you

Couldn't you just post this in the thread McLewis made?
Anyway, yeah, interesting stuff by Lahm but should have waited until retirement.

Re: Lahm was right
That's not news though, remember Bayern?
Klinsmann was a good enough coach as long as he had Löw and Flick doing the tactics for him. But the second he was on his own at Bayern, he went tits up, almost ruined Godolskis career single-handedly and nearly cost Bayern the UCL spot.

Re: Lahm was right
Klinsmann wants the US to take a more "total football" approach to the game as opposed to playing super-defensive and relying on counters. It's an interesting concept that has never been used for the US NT. Personally, i'm not sure the team has the horses for it. There aren't enough technical players. While the new philosophy settles in and players emerge to fill the new roles in this style of play, there will be some struggles. The bad result wasn't surprising to me at all.

The idea isn't stupid, it worked good enough for Germany in 06, and that German team back then wasn't much better than the US of today. And they had like two technical players (Lahm and Schneider, ok, maybe Piggy and Podolski as well).
But Klinsmann needs a deputy who's a good tactician that he listens to, or the US will get destroyed.

Actually, in the first two games under Klinsman the US have performed very well and certainly better than they looked under Bradley since the World Cup.

Re: Lahm was right
I actually think very highly of Klinsmann as a visionary, style-wise, and a technique coach. He's just a poor tactician. I don't know his assistants nowadays, but if he's got a tactician on the team, he'll listen to him. He listened to Löw, and it worked. He was just on his own at Bayern, and failed miserably.
