New Juventus signing Eljero Elia reveals he has “been a supporter of this team since I was nine years old!”
The Dutch international made the move from Hamburg in the final days of the transfer session despite competition from Premier League sides.

“I have been a supporter of this team since I was nine years old! In the Champions League Final of 1996, I was cheering on Juve against Ajax. It was a fantastic game.”

The Bianconeri drew that match 1-1 before lifting the trophy in a penalty shoot-out.

The squad included new teammate Alessandro Del Piero and Coach Antonio Conte, but Elia was more in awe of another player.

“Fabrizio Ravanelli was such a great striker. He played an incredible game against Ajax. He drove me crazy and remains a reference point for me.”

‘White Feather’ Ravanelli is also at Juventus now, as he is the new Coach of the Esordienti youth squad.

Well in his first yr amauri made us finish second and win many games in the group and against RM he scored ... Iaquinta never done that not even in his prime ...and tahts a fact

I highly doubt he supported Juventus, but he does know our history and some players he mentioned in his past interviews, from that perspective I can say he followed a lot of Serie A and Juventus, but no where near a supporter, but just an admier.

I can name-drop players from Parma's 1996-97 season, that doean't make me a supporter. I highly doubt Elia was a Juve supporter as a kid. He was probably more of an Ajax-hater...

Regardless, he's a Juve supporter now. His actions on the field will speak more to the tifosi than some pandering quotes to the media.
