Leiva should of replaced Mascherano. Not the other way around in replacing Alonso. Would of made a killer partnership.

I watch LFC fairly regularly, what I have seen is him evolve from rubbish (as in costs you the game) to average (just barely hangs on to the midfield with the aid of Adam and Henderson working like dogs)

I will leave it to difference of opinion then, I like Liverpool, I enjoy watching them. Lucas, I have no idea what he is doing in that team. If you want a DM, go get a proper one. Lucas looks like someone who has been pushed into an anchor role and does not want to be there.

We had a 8m bid rejected and the BBC reported we signed him for 12m. If you read their report, notice it doesn't say "a fee reported to be around 12m", it just says 12m.

He originally was a CM who has been converted into a DM. I think everyone will agree his first season was crap. But to call him rubbish now is just stupid. His break up play, tackles and pass completion rate have been phenomenal. If anything, it just goes to show how overrated a number of the 'well known' DMs are. For a good 2 seasons he has always shown up against the big teams putting in close to an 85% average pass completion rate as well as a good tackle success rate. (Don't have the exact percentage)

We rejected 2 bids. First one was 8m + Yossi, second was a 15m bid.

He put in a transfer request, so we would of just settled for 15.

That's my belief too. Everyplayer we wanted to ship out, didn't even feature on the bench all season...likes of Cole, Aqua, Ngog and Poulsen I am talking about. However Merieles played in all games when he was fit and obviously plan was to keep him, but when a player hands in transfer request, we sell the since we only want players who want to play for LFC and no one is bigger than the club.

Meireles last season played in 4 positions for us:

RW under Roy- He was atrocious there
CM under Roy- better than RW, but still not effective enough
AM under Kenny- His best spell, scored goals and influential..but then Suarez came and of course he is a couple of leagues higher than Raul in AM position
LW under Kenny- after Gerrard's injury, Spearing came to CM, and Raul outwide, that he was good, making late runs, good off the ball movement, but of course not a natural wide player.

then Downing is of course a much more natural and better LW, and Suarez being AM..he wasn't a guaranteed starter, though of course alternative to either players, and all that considering Gerrard was injured.

Also, Merieles lost the entire pre-season through injury, and had no match fitness, that's why he sat on the bench in the league ,and Kenny said I'll use Exeter game to give him fitness, but he got injured after 20 minutes and taken off.

Though his body language in his last 2 games was very strange. From giving the finger vs Arsenal, to yelling at everyone after first goal vs Arsenal, to pushing the medical staff when they told him he has to come off vs Exeter due to his collar bone....
