OT: let’s all take a minute to make fun of Spain

France made a similar error in 2014
This is not the first time such a fiasco has taken place. In 2014, French train operator SNCF ordered 2,000 regional trains that were too wide for the network’s platforms.
Again, the error was caused by data from the infrastructure manager that did not account for older structures.
In this case, the trains were already made and the platforms had to be rebuilt at great cost.

I laughed at France too as a FYI.
The only positive for France was that the platforms in question were antiquated and needed upgrades. So having the new trains already manufactured forced the government to actually make the infrastructure investment. Allowed for the TGV to service more towns.

Sometimes you just wake up on the wrong side of the bed and have a shitty day and place 200 million euro order on oversized trains. Big deal!

That screw up was for AVE (high speed train) to Asturias, my province. They had built over 80 kms of tunnels. That was more than 2 years ago and it was just at the end of May when the AVE trains started running. They had to expand the width of some of the tunnels.
The error while comical was hugely expensive and came at a time when we were recovering economically from covid. NOT funny at all.

long live communism
What is happening in Poland is nothing short of economic wonder. Standard of living in Poland overtaking Spain and Italy within just one generation is amazing. Capitalism and free market are the only proven way out of socialist poverty. pic.twitter.com/FI4d4iWc0r
