Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
Cant help but feel Lukaku would help Liverpool so much if they got him, they need a guy who is a presence in the box with so many crosses from the two FBs and turnovers that someone can finish into goals. Firmino and Jota obviously arent that.
Chelsea same as last season, just amazingly strong defensively. Im starting to see the strength of Jorginho since the Euros, his defensive work and ball retention is top.
Interesting though how Tuchel brings on Kovavic for Kante at HT? Would have thought the latter is better ur man down and defending?

Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
Kovacic was brilliant when he came on. He took care of the ball so well whenever Chelsea needed to slow the game down.
Mane unfortunately has lost some of his spark as he could not evolve as every opposition has figured it out how to stop him. We desperately needed a fresh signing. We will be fine till the end of the season but can not compete with the likes ManCity, ManUtd and Chelsea over a period of 38 games.

Nevertheless just saw your bench, 35m Chamberlain, 30m Thiago, 35-40m Jota, 35-40m Konate, and 60m Naby Keita, no excuses really.
yeah we signed them which years lol? you want Konate to come on to change the game? Thiago has an ass injury and can barely run.
But yes, we are essentially riding this squad down with Klopp and then its over for LFC when Klopp leaves along all these guys in 2024
What does it matter what years, my point is you did spend money, but it was poorly, Chamberlain had injury concern at Arsenal your club still spent on him, Thiago miss around 30-35% of games in his time at Bayern due to injuries and you bought him, have you seen Konate injury record? He's missed 45 games in the last 2 years you bought these guys to a coach who plays some high energy style with a lot of demand. 3 of your starting/depth options have bad injury records. I also agree with @Helmer Klopp equally hasn't utilize some of these guys where he could've offered some rest.
I do not believe it was spent poorly, Ox was the catalyst for our first season back into title contenders and CL final. Thiago still has to slot for what Gini left once his ass heals. Keita still comes in and puts in 8/10 shifts before leaving for 2 months.
I think anyone who follows Klopp knows he is a dinosaur for majority of his operations and thinking. He would rather sign injury prone players who fit the system rather than signing big names who don't. I am 100% fine with it because Klopp has brought Liverpool from nothing to something. Any other manager would have got rid of Matip in the first window they would have managed Liverpool but Matip has the best record in the team even though he plays max 20 games.
The problem essentially lies in a misalignment between Klopp's recruiting policy and the amount of money he has got to spend and it will come to bite us in future for sure but hell no I don't want Klopp to sign players just because they stay fit for 50 games a season but don't fit into the rigid model he has implemented which works for us as of now.
To answer your question, no Klopp has not spent money poorly and he has trophies to show why he hasn't. Konate is not an example of poor spending considering last year. Also to talk about Helmer's point, how is that new? Fabinho took 6 months to fit in, Robertson spent an entire season deputizing behind Alberto fucking Moreno. Just because you have a big name does not mean you start in a Klopp team. He rewards those who prove themselves in the moment which is why 17 year old Eliiot started over everyone. The issue at hand is why hasn't Klopp for whatever reason brought in anyone else rather questioning those he has brought in.

Kante is a better ball winner indeed but my thinking is that Kovačić is better at retaining the ball once possession is regained.BarcaLearning wrote:Cant help but feel Lukaku would help Liverpool so much if they got him, they need a guy who is a presence in the box with so many crosses from the two FBs and turnovers that someone can finish into goals. You could steal the ball a hundred times but if you lose it straight away, your team is on the back foot immediately. Jorginho and Kovačić did well to give their team a breather with a slight look to hurt Liverpool on the counter.

I didn't watch the game but even if the second half was frustrating, I'm not sure why we're already going through the "woe is me" Liverpool bit. A 1-1 draw with Chelsea is not a bad result, even if Pool had a very good chance for more, and didn't put in the best performance.
Let this play out for another 10 games before judging imo.

How does that change the situation for any team? The window is done and Liverpool are still playing the same eleven since 2018. The 'woe is me' has been here since a while and its about time other fans realize it that Liverpool fans are going to talk about it if you call us out not signing anyone or making bad signings. This is nothing new.

Now Firmino has hamstring, you couldn't make this shit up and just see what Liverpool will do. They will sell Origi and then wait for Babby to come back.

Might as well bring Jack Wilshere back. I mean, what do you have to lose, Arsenal?

Kante was not moving well, he picked up something before the half. This was his first start of the season, and likely will spend more time on the medical table.

I see, also Kovacic indeed did very well together with Jorginho, together they made it hard for Liverpool to just boss it, and in general in other games im sure, thats why Chelsea are so solid. If Lukaku works out they will be dominating for a while to come. Also think ALonso is great most of time so looks like they are all good.

Re: 2021/2022 Premier League Discussion
Well I was going to write same thought, I appreciated the impact about Kovacic yesterday
eventually golden point for Chelsea, 11 vs 10 at Anfield, it proved to be a strong team again ( they would have lost same match last year , they could even win it
Your thoughts about Croatian ? @Blue
Improved or still incosistent ?
Rotation player or he might even be starter in Premier ?
I feel curious about Kovacic because I know him since 2012, basically grown at Inter, player who always missed of something for making the leap.
About a thing I was sure , and it proved as true. He's midfielder and not CAM ( at that time he even played as CAM under Mancini, not by chance his old thread - not opened by me - talked about ' new trequartista ' ) .
It was clear to me even though his sense of position wasn't optimal and he "struggled" to stay good on pitch. Well here I get my first response, yesterday he 's battled good against Liverpool midfield

Kovavic is good, i always said it. He was Chelsea's best player 2 or 3 seasons ago... the season Kante had a down season.

As long as Fred (especially him) and James are in the starting 11, Man U aren't going anywhere. Neither belongs in the EPL.

You can't have a player of Fred's quality in a midfield and expect to win the Prem these days. Maybe 12 years ago, but even a player like Ji Sung Park had more quality than Fred

It doesn't change for any team, but you have 7 points from 9 and have played Chelsea. Van Dijk is back. This team is the same team that won the PL a couple years ago. I think some healthy pessimism or skepticism is fine but I've seen too many Pool fans already be extremely negative to what is a good start to the season and what should be a title challenging team.
