Auba chasing everything down... WATTBA

prime Artetaball after we the first 15-20 minutes of the game lol... terrible stuff just sitting back as if the game is over.

formation looks more like a 4-2-2-2 with Odegaard next to Partey and Emile up there alongside Auba. But why? If Tierney isn't bombing forward enough to create overlaps and triangles, our only other option is for Emile to drive the ball forward with his burst of pace and runs... so drop him deeper.

It's 4-4-2 without the ball with ESR taking up a position next to Auba and Odegaard playing next to Partey.

Which is fine because it's a good shape to press in... if we actually bothered pressing. At the moment we're doing a very poor rendition of Burnley.

All the problems come from that because we can't do much without the ball. Palace had 57% possession at the end of that half which isn't good enough.

should have known that Tottenham result was just a flash in the pan Laughing

if we want to play that "4-4-2/4-2-2-2" we might as well play Laca and Auba up front because of their combination play and Laca's additional hold up play. Lokonga is a passenger.

Use to not be a huge fan of him but it would be a tremendous upgrade in manager that still would have to play a team that is poorly put together and just not good enough.

Make no mistake, this result still reflects very poorly on Arteta.

Vieira's had 8 games with Palace, with average players, and already has them playing out and pressing well. Arteta's had more than two seasons, 200m in investment and his team still looks like shit.

Arteta's Arsenal are a limp dick of a team. He does all this tactical prep work, talks up his ideas but when it comes to actually competing, they don't do a thing. Everything he does is pointless without aggression and intensity, which he seems incapable of instilling in his team for more than 10 minutes.

Getting it up against Spurs is a bare minimum. Anyone can do that. It's these games against Palace, Brighton, Villa on Friday, etc. where there has to be the same application and it's just not there.

I'd take Hassenhuttl or Potter tomorrow if they're up for it.

Arteta is dragging us down single handedly. Apart from the early goal its just pathetic play. Auba was really fired up bit the service given to him was next to none.

If we had asserted ourselves the way we did the last 15 mins from the start we would have been comfortable. But we were trying to emulate a Roy hodgson team which has taken an unexpected early lead.

I was crying when all tierney was doing the last 15 min was passing to 5 o clock to either lokonga or gabriel. Auba Laca link up was very good. One touch. Created 2 chances.

Don't understand these tactics at all. We have more quality than Palace, so why aren't we using it to control the game? Why surrender control of the game on a 1-0 lead?

This is what i don't understand. Why is it so hard to keep the ball? I mean just cycle it across the defence and midfield if you need to. All top teams do that. Why surrender possession? I don't even know if Arteta has a blueprint

His two signature moves are

1) start the attack from the GK -> fullback ->crossfield pass ->hope it sticks
2) start the attack from White (prev Luiz) and hope the long pass reaches for the players to do something with it.

Rest of the time it's just sit back and wait until option 1 or 2 becomes available.

I read this so often, no idea why the English insist on writing Hassenhuttl with the 2 s

you might think it doesn't matter, but the difference is enormous:

"hassen" is "to hate" while "Hasen" is "bunnies"

His name literally means "little bunny hut", it should be respected and appreciated

Arteta's blueprint

Ramsdale to Gabriel to White to Gabriel to Tiereny to Gabriel then a long ball to RWF. RWF doesnt win the header. Pray the ball ends up with ramsdale and not in the goal. Repeat.

Both goals yesterday we conceded were because both Partey and Lokonga thought they had more time on the ball which they dont have in PL.

Was the 200M an over priced investment in average players. Or is Artetta making them average? Or a mixture of both. From the games so far I have not really seen anything to make me believe that we are anything ore than an average team now. A couple fo good people up top and a lot of average that can not get them service.

can't believe people still question the quality of the squad as a big factor... it's literally more a question of management and coaching... look at Brighton, Villa and Leicester of past seasons - a bunch of no-name but young and hungry players who put in 90-minute shifts for their manager.

Look at these jokers playing with actual intensity and aggression for a full half. 14 shots to Villa's 0, xG above 2, deserved 2-0 lead.

More of this. Please.

Teta took my advice... Auba needs to get more involved though. He and Laca should take turns at dropping deep.

Otherwise... so satisfying seeing the little bitch Martinez cry after that rebound goal

really? if it did happen it didn't happen enough imo... Laca's better at holding up play so the potential for one-two's to spark the attack are better when he's the one higher up

anyway... it is fair to say i would do a tremendous job as Arteta's number one assistant... honestly how do i get the job?? the guy doesn't have an ounce of logic in his brain... he runs Saka into the ground week in week out, 3-0 was the perfect opportunity to give Martinelli some more minutes in his place

I think its safe to say that ESR is undroppable. Whether he plays in the middle or on the left he needs to be in the team.

Tavares has a surprisingly strong weak foot. My favourite moment (outside the ESR goal) was Tavares switching the play with his weak foot to Tomi, who beat the press by switching the ball with his weak foot back to Tavares.

think it's safe to say we're set in the left back department for the next few years with two good options

just hope we keep more focus going forward when we have decent leads... felt so bummed for the defense and Ramsdale for not getting the clean sheets vs Spurs and tonight
