COPA is historical and all and always will be but comparing it to Euros is a joke. I remember watching the COPA this time and the level of football itself was just shocking. European football has zoomed way ahead of South American and saying otherwise is just memeing.

That being said Benzema would not be an exciting win for the Ballon d'Or but a deserved one.

Real one who deserves it is Robert Lewandowski, who has been just absurdly prolific but wont win it, sadly.

Brazil is the most successful team in the World Cup. Last three World Cup's Uefa has had 40 teams, about half making to the knock-out stage. In stark comparison Conmebol entered with 15 teams, and only one failed to advance to ko-stage.

Copa and Euro are pretty equal on top 5 teams, but the style is different. Where as in Europe players are protected and game is more skillful, in Conmebol referees are protected and the game is much more physical.

The top teams in the Copa are equal or a step down to the top teams in Europe. Sure, the teams are more equal overall, but somehow believing it is a harder or more valuable victory than the "ladies" Euro game is ridiculous.

Sure, Brazil was the best team on the planet, and probably can still be the best team now, but the standards of coaching, training, and tactics have all massively changed since they last won it. At best, the SA teams can tank wins through sheer passion and skill, but they are almost always outclassed physically and tactically by the top European teams.

I never said Copa is more valuable than Euro's. They are as valuable, highest honor for the teams aside World Cup. What I said is no different from "farmer's competition", they are just different styles of competition, because cultural differences and amount of nations. In Uefa games are more varied because of this, but in Conmebol everybody knows everybody and play much harder games on average.

Prosecutors are trying to save face... I hope they get buried. So many crazy crimes go without prosecution and they spend so many resources on this. Just shameful.

valbuena seems to be salty like he thought he was a star or something? Even if he got a world cup medal what was gonna happen? Was he gonna be elite? This case is the most relevant he has been and I'm sure that why he and his lawyer is pushing the benzema angle for some cheap recognition.

Anyway this case seem to be over for benzema at least so good for him, is valbuena really a victim anyway he seems to be using benzema to gloss over his sextape not like anyone cares for that matter other than him.

Benzema didn't blackmail anyone.  

His childhood friend knew the blackmailers and told Benzema about it.  Benz was extremely stupid to act as an intermediary exactly ONCE.  Valbuena was a friend at the time... and Benzema was told that the sextape was real and the people involved were legit gangsters.

That's what he told Valbuena.  That the tape was real according to his friend (Benzema never saw it) and it's something he should flush out.  He made his childhood friend available to Valbuena.

Now here's the thing...  Benzema childhood friend is a known thug.  So was Benz trying to legitimately help Valbuena or was he helping his other friend with a scam?

IMO, Benz isn't a bad dude.  So he was legit trying to help.

That offer from the prosecutors shows that, at best, they can't prove complicity and are trying to salvage whatever they can.

I am extremely mad that Benz used the NT break to approach Valbuena about this... which was doubly stupid.  It then became a NT issue which got him banned. He completely deserved getting kicked off the team and his comments about Deschamps "succumbing to the racist voices of France" put the nail in his coffin. He's lucky Deschamps needs him now.

The guy is a dummy and was playing a wannabe gangster.  Great footballer though.
