KDB is City's main man. He's scored in every knockout round this campaign. He also has the Euros too. If City wins the CL he'd become favorite I think.

Uh no; gundogan, Dias, and Stones have been far superior. KDB was injured for half the season and had a fair bit of bad games coming back

Dont know about Stones, hes made quite a few typical mistakes I thought. Gundogan and Dias definitely has been in great form though. Rodrigo has his weaknesses but has done very well this season too I think.

Betting odds are usually a good guide on the favourites, as least reputation ones. but wtf is Bruno Fernandez and Ronaldo doing on that list Very Happy

Benzema scoring more goals in his 30s than in his 20s rate Razz

He really stepped aside to let Ronaldo be the main scorer, otherwise he might have got even more eariler on.

Except the Ballon d'or isn't about who was the most consistent performer. It's about which player had the most memorable moments in big competitions that the voters will remember. If there wasn't a stand-out player it usually goes to the best/most marketable player on the best team.

KDB is the reigning PL POTY and is regarded as City's best player. He's had goal contributions in every round despite being known as a midfielder (yes I know he's playing false 9). The average journalist and fan recognize him as City's main man.

If City wins the CL they're going to rally behind one player to win it like all CL-winning teams do. Stones and co don't have that clout. If most of your votes come from third-world countries you don't promote some defender or passing CM who have never received credit in their lives before as your Ballon d'or contender. Van Dijk had arguably the GOAT defensive season and he still lost to Messi. I'm supposed to believe Stones, Dias, and Gundogan are going to have a chance? Please. Laughing

He's been on good form in 2021 especially in terms of goalscoring, but I can't see someone who got knocked out in the CL R16 winning it. Maybe if Chelsea wins the CL and he wins La Liga and Copa America?

Who I think teams will rally behind for a Ballon d'or campaign depending on who wins the CL:
PSG - Mbappe
City - KDB
Madrid - Benz
Chelsea - No one is going to win it from there

Even if Madrid wins, Benzema's lack of involvement in the Euros might hurt him. If France wins Euros and Mbappe has a standout tournament he probably becomes favorite even if PSG doesn't win the CL. The only way I see an underdog player winning it is if their team won the CL and they were an important member and if they win player of the tournament at Euros ala Modric (in his case WC) in 2018.

lolwut? Guy has run out of steam and been dropping duds for the past two months now. What you mean to say he has been Utd's stand out player, because it doesn't take a lot to be one over there.

All of KdB, Mahrez, Dias and maybe even Gundogan has been more impressive than Pernandes.
