Arsenal vs Wolves
It appears that on top of Özil making his return due to poor results/performances and Xhaka being left out, Emery is forced into playing our best team.
Leno
Chambers Sokratis Luiz Tierney
Torreira Guendouzi
Özil
Pepe Lacazette Aubameyang
Excited for a league game for once.

Re: Arsenal vs Wolves
Line up looks good, but we know Emery will try to go as defensive as possible.
Another 2-2 at home coming up.

Re: Arsenal vs Wolves
It's a diamond today:
Leno; Chambers, Sokratis, Luiz, Tierney; Guendouzi, Torreira, Ceballos; Ozil; Lacazette, Aubameyang
Subs: Martinez, Bellerin, Kolasinac, Willock, Saka, Martinelli, Pepe
So, Torreira and Ozil keep their place. That's good.
But Pepe is on the bench.
I guess for the sake of balance you can't have all four on the pitch at once, especially against a strong counter attacking team like Wolves, but sometimes I just wanna see them screw balance and go all out.

difficult start but then momentum shifted and we scored

Re: Arsenal vs Wolves
Guys, I don't know how to say this, but that was actually okay?
Defensively it's still messy and they're allowing Wolves way too many entries into their final third/penalty area, but with the ball it's been good. Ozil, Laca and Auba have made clever runs to exploit the space behind Wolves' wing backs, Ceballos and Torreira have made good supportive runs to help with ball progression, and the midfield in general has done well to outnumber Wolves' and keep the ball.
At the moment, Tierney/Chambers have been quick to get balls into the box when maybe they can wait and play one-twos down the outside to create cut-backs.
Now watch Emery go full defensive in the second half.

Yea i enjoyed most of this performance. Ozil has been excellent. Great to have some intelligence in the team.
Need to double the lead soon though.

Re: Arsenal vs Wolves
Frustrating second half. Conceding a goal off a short thrown in was unforgivable and punished their inability to kill the game off. Even though Arsenal were playing were reasonably well with the ball, you never felt Wolves were out the game at any stage.
Again, you have to question Emery because his subs were strange. Why take off Laca in the 60th minute? Why bring on Saka and not Pepe? He effectively cornered himself because when the equaliser went in, he had to bring Pepe on but couldn't take off Auba or Ozil, who were playing well, and couldn't hook one of the kids he just threw on. So in the end, he just swapped the left backs. I'm all for giving the kids minutes but not when you're trying to kill off a game against a decent team with your record signing on the bench.
Also, this strange tendency of his to take off Torreira, the most defensive midfielder at the club, when trying to protect and lead, and asking Guendouzi and Ceballos to somehow hold the midfield on their own. Frustratingly enough, it was Ceballos' error on the goal, too.
Overall, I was encouraged by the attacking play but the defending is still pants and if it remains so next week vs Leciester, it's going to get ugly.

Re: Arsenal vs Wolves
has any team ever finished top 4 with negative shot difference?dont think so
Ceballos losing the run of Moutinho who was excellent but its was latter stages of the game vs old player

Re: Arsenal vs Wolves
Out-shot 24 to 9 at home. It's so bad.
Just making 9 shots at home is one thing, but to concede 24 on top of that... Wolves are a decent team with good attackers (Jota is big club material imo) but they didn't have to play well to get those shots.
And the thing is, you couldn't say Arsenal were lazy or lacked fight during the game. Everyone was trying. It's a failure of the system and the coaching.

Re: Arsenal vs Wolves
Tierney was excellent for most part, started nervously a bit but grew in to the game handled Adama/Doherty well for overall
we should have done far more damage on the other end considering it wasn't strongest wolves backline with players like Boly missing

The whole backline was decent. A shame they just get zero protection from anybody and have to fight for their lives every game.

Re: Arsenal vs Wolves
thought Ceballos played well in the 8 role other than letting Moutinho run off him for the goal.
Torreira played way more advanced than him lol. Like i've been saying this whole season, with our current crop of players there is no genuine real balance to find for our midfield. Sad, but true

they weren't too soft for the goal?? Chambers and Sokratis should have dealt with that ball in better
