Re: Real Madrid UCL Group Stage 2019
Zidane was brought back by Perez to calm the fans down. Everyone knows that the team is exhausted, getting old, and in need of a grand change. Zizou is just there to buy time. It is normal after that much success the players are less motivated, and the team is in transition mode. If we are smart that phase should last another season, but with today's pulling power it could last up to five seasons. The old guard is close to finished, to sum it up we would've needed way much more than Pogba to fix all of our problems. We would've needed a fresher bench, world class striker and most definitely a close to total defensive revamp.
The only thing for Zidane to do is soften the blow.
That being said, tactically we are poor due to our low level of athleticism, players are slow as fuck, and the most affected by this is Carvajal, the guy goes forward and we get beaten down, it is 4 to 2 in an opposition counter attack.
The right thing to do here is to let just one of the fullbacks to go forward going from our usual 2-1-4-3 in attack to a more stable formation with 3 defenders and two midfielders ready to intercept a counter. Two defenders, a fullback and two midfielders with one of them being slightly forward should always be behind the ball.
Often we see both fullbacks on the respective flanks with side forwards next to them, a striker in form of Benzema way outside of a goal threatening position, and two midfielders close to the 16 meters line, with just Casemiro and the two defenders which in most cases push way up. All you need to threaten us is an opposition midfielder with a simple pass to a flank and we are on the back foot. Casemiro cannot fill the gap on both flanks.
Attacking wise we should implement something new with Hazard on scene now. While Modric is out we could try out a 4-2-3-1 with Bale being a LW, James or Vazquez as a RW(someone to cross a ball, and cover a fullback) Benz upfront with Hazard supporting him, Toni just further up than Casemiro. That way you have Benz and Bale being the danger in front of the goal, with Hazard just behind them to set them up or dribble inside from the left side and shoot.
The problem with that would be that the middle would be left by just two players and can be easily be overcrowded by the opposition, and that is where the fullbacks should be more prepared to quickly return to their position. In this case the RW should be also able to fit into a center right midfielder if needed converting to a standard 4-3-3.

Re: Real Madrid UCL Group Stage 2019
The same issues that I pointed out about Zidane two years ago are slowly creeping back up. It's too bad I was hoping that given the chance to build his own team he would push his own style forward but he looks like he has no clue what he is doing.
And Perez really just needs to stop picking coaches because they are big names. Appointing lopetegui was a good choice even his the shadow of his getting fired by Spain basically ruined everything he did in Madrid.
Firing Zidane to hire Mourinho is not a step forward. Just another motivational guru who doesn't spend enough time coaching football.

Changing coaches would not solve anything now, not even combining Klopp and Guardiola would make our team any younger, the teams cycle is over and we need to realize that as soon as possible and move on.
As soon as fans start to complain about our shitty form, Perez will change coach without dealing with the real problem first.
In all honesty Zizou tried to build a team of his own, but failed in selling some players to bring new ones. So I say sit this season out, and be back for the next one, but there is a risk, we either succeed or turn to another AC Milan.
From what I've seen so far in Zizous tactics is that he wants an engine in midfield and he has had that in Modric, covering the fullbacks, link-up play, risk taker, assists, goals, actually a very creative box-to-box midfielder. Now that he is on decline, Zizou thought Pogba would be the perfect man to replace him, and IMO I think he was part of the answer to our problem. Other than that Zidane would've liked a classic winger and the obvious +50 goals a season player.

Goalkeepers: Courtois, Areola, Altube.
Defenders: Carvajal, Militão, Ramos, Varane, Nacho, Marcelo.
Midfielders: Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Valverde, Isco.
Forwards: Hazard, Benzema, Lucas Vázquez, Jović, Vinicius Jr.
Squad for tomorrow's game
James and Bale dont make the squad. A bit surprising tbh.
This weekend is another tough match as we against 2nd place Granada

And Lucas makes it looooooool
That said, Bale and James are injury prone. we need them. we should not need them in this game.

easy money tomorrow if you ask me. teams like brugge (good teams with in countries with smaller coefficients) aren't necessarily used to holding out for draw. they'll open up go for the win, and we can catch them on the break.

Re: Real Madrid UCL Group Stage 2019
ZZ mentioned in an article in Marca this week that he has 25 players that deserve to be called up... but he can only call on 18. He actually said that it's agonizing for him because they all are giving it all in training. But the numbers are unmanageable, especially at the wing forward position.
His quote was: "I ask people to work hard in training. They give it everything they have. Yet, I can't call many of them to the squad. So what's the reward for them to listen to me? It's a very difficult predicament for everyone involved. I just keep telling them to try as hard as they can and their time will come, whether at Madrid or somewhere else." I'm paraphrasing. I can't find the article.
The reason he was so honest IMO to the media is that any speculation that there are problems with certain players is proactively put to bed. Spanish media are very good at coming up with fiction if you let them lol.
Games like this and early CDR ones are a good place to reward training ground warriors.

Re: Real Madrid UCL Group Stage 2019
this year CDR doesn't start until Jan and it's a one game series, so not much hope for Brahim or Rodrygo yet Lucas still gets plenty of action? I understand Mariano has been asked to find a new club for January! I don't imagine he was included in Zidane's list.
The kids that are really winning this year are Odegaard, Kubo, Ceballos, Achraf!

Not sure who's worse between Hazard, Lucas and Tibu
Zidane better make 3 subs at HT none of which should be Jovic. Vinicious should be the absolutr first one to come on. I am tired of Hazard already

Worst part is no Bale or James on the bench true difference makers.
Who are going to rely on to bring us back? Jovic? Vini? ISCO?

Re: Real Madrid UCL Group Stage 2019
Just don't see why benzema loves playing with Madrid, everybody is fucking morons, hazard and LV just wanna run and dribble, modric just wanna run and dribble, while teams just use one or two passes and scoring against Madrid it's a joke, zz doesn't have any tactics or game plan. Just fucking nonsense.
It's amazing how average the team is because zz isn't telling them anything, it's obvious that the players are doing their own thing on the pitch, trying to be magical thinking about headlines and YouTube clips, no leadership everybody heads in the clouds, except the guy who is clearly the best player and in the most form can't get a decent ball.

Better than relying on Lucas fking Vasquez. Shit, Isco could actually pass the ball accurate enough and dribble. Vasquez is currently killing @Freeza at the moment.

Isco's passing isn't that great either.
Everything about Vazquez annoys me. The way he runs is infuriating.
Valverde should start over Modric hands down. Modric is done.
Hazard flat, again. Where Vinicius

My honest opinion on Isco? Just dribbles and makes a side pass with no end product. Not one of our midfielders excluding James can make a splitting through pass they just recycle the ball to the wing, and Isco is part of that category. Thats not what we need right now.

Re: Real Madrid UCL Group Stage 2019
How many times is carvajal gonna draw over varane to cover him?always running up the pitch doing nothing, same goals type of easy goals from direct passes, but all the midfielder and wingers needs a hundreds touches to pass the ball sideways, pick every option except the cf, hazard ran in circle and back pass to nacho before passing to benzema, it's a joke too much internal competition and self interests in the team, nobody respects the club.
