That looks much better than anticipated. Can't believe it tbh. Production value was always the thing I was most worried about and it looks great.

Wow, I was never in doubt but this looks amazing. Some of the shots in this trailer are incredible.
Not a fan of the Ciri and Triss actresses. Isn't Triss a teenager in the books? The actress they picked looks old as hell
Also, Cavill is a goddamn tank. That biceps is bigger than my future ffs

Re: The Witcher TV series
The Witcher teaser has built up some hype for me too. Damn.
I know nothing about the books and I intend to keep it that way this time, which is why I hope that we keep a non-book thread here in GL just like for GOT.

Is there any point? I mean I've read the short stories etc but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here who has.

I have read the whole series. Promise not to talk about spoilers even in spoiler tags.
But the biggest twist of the books is actually spoiled for everyone who played Witcher 3. So let's not even talk about the games. Half the posts this thread is about the series, I think we should create a seperate thread for the series and not talk about the books or games there.

Re: The Witcher TV series
Yeah we should start a separate thread for the show. This one will probably be flooded with Witcher stuff else, since I expect it’ll be the most popular show on here given how much we’ve written in the game threads.
Also wouldn’t expect there to be much to spoil after we’ve played the games.

Re: The Witcher TV series
Mixed thoughts on the teaser. Then again as a man who has built his fandom around Witcher 3 (only) rather than books I have not read, I am seldom in the position to criticise what they are going for since the series is based on the books exclusively and not the games as many will continue to mistake.
First and foremost I am at peace that the production values seem as the Witcher universe deserve as the shots within the teaser were near breathtaking as detail and expense definitely been put into the costume design and environment.
Yen doesn't feel like Yen but likely she will and the origin story implication definitely will help her fit into the deformed enchantress she was to what she became via glamour.
Ciri I am satisfied with as she has that starry-eyed look as described and seems to have her acting chops in order based expressive trailers.
Geralt I am convinced by in the form of Cavill. Not only does the look fit hand in hand to the Witcher himself but definitely the ferocity that we expect, even if the voice is not directly as gruff as Doug Cockle's was for the video game yet either way given his talent he is bound to make it his own.
Mentioning the beautiful photography I was a little underwhelmed by the score on display as I genuinely feel giving Witcher a Slavic feel that it did within the video games will give it an authentic and unique touch rather than being another ambiguous Anglo-Celtic based fantasy. Witcher 3 score was perfect.
Overall I have the big feeling it will turn out to be more style than substance as media like these can have that touch if not done by a hand who can transcend the gorgeous visuals into the fundamentals to which I hope they focus on and giving respect to the source material.
If they do pull it off Cavill will be a legend to me forever in my own eyes and I cannot stress how much I want this to succeed for the Witcher lore is quite dear to me.

I'm really looking forward to Yen origin stuff, it's something which has been alluded to but never really explored.

It looks better than i thought but the dialogues sounds so generic.
Pleasantly surprised at how good Cavill looks as Geralt though.

Re: The Witcher TV series
A lot of great media have come out similar to this where they are shot beautifully, well tailored costume design along with the atmosphere but fall flat as a result of bad dialogue and little substance behind the style as this remains to have that air of it behind it as desperately as I want it to succeed.
The laughable team behind the series does it no favours either.
Oddly enough Cavill is the single thing that I am standing on for faith in the show aside from the now confirmed high-budget production value.
He is a talented actor as wooden as he can be at times and the best part is that he has read all the books, played Witcher more than Mole and absolutely has shown dedication to understanding Geralt. His speech at Comic-con on 'what Witcher is' was a better explanation then I could have imagined.
Makes me wonder why I havent been chosen to play Snake yet smh

I want Cavill to confirm he's played it more than me tbh, until then he's a nobody imo.
