Re: Hail to the EPL
PL doesn't consistently dominate either, by this logic they should have been dominating for years now lol.

Re: Hail to the EPL
Few years back , EPL had jabroni's like Pellegrini, Rodgers, Van Gaal, washed up Wenger coaching the top teams
Now you have all the best coaches in the world coaching in the league
How did this happen ? Because of appeal and money.
The only club that has grown organically with limited spending is Spurs but it remains to be seen for how long they keep it because their rivals will eventually outspend them and keep them out of top 4 soon enough.
It's just the nature of the game. Dortmund haven't got anywhere near the highs of 2013 because of a lack of spending.
Why did Real Madrid and Barca dominate CL for so long ? Because they spent the kind of money where they could guarantee a team competing at the highest levels for a good 6-7 years. It is an added bonus if the money is the im the hands of the right people.
Man United would be top of the league if they had the right people managing the club.
By the way I think this is the first season in 7-8 seasons that we have seen outsiders like Spurs or Ajax have made the semis otherwise it has always been the top teams that make it to the latter rounds. This season has been a mere exception to the rule.

Toughest league indeed.
All top teams in other leagues level have gone down that is why EPL teams are able to compete again.
And the 2nd placed team is 3 points behind. Meanwhile barca win the league in October and we havent had a drip of suspense in La Liga since. Which is still better than in France, Italy and Germany where the leagues are won before they start.

Re: Hail to the EPL
As with everything else, money doesnt trump all, but money certainly goes a long way And u can do nothing without some at least Very rarely anyway.
EPL being the best will always be argued, unless they do what they are doing this season for another few years to come. Otherwise, it just the natural randomness of this season perhaps Since La Liga teams has dominated too long to be ignored so fast, everyone keeps underrating it but its just gonna continue I guess.

Easily the strongest League.
1 2 3 4 5 all fighing for something. Never happened in hisotyr.
As Casc said the money and then the coaching eventually this was going to happen.
Klopp, Pep, Pep and even Sarri are the elite coaches in Europe. It's even translated to NT performances.

Re: Hail to the EPL
It has been inevitable. They will eventually be light years ahead of most leagues until there are major changes. The TV money is so good that lower half teams can afford to buy decent players. Meanwhile, revenue sharing in La Liga is atrocious in comparison while Italy lol 98% team don't even have their own stadiums. A club like Napoli just got their stadium banned for European competitions because it is so prehistoric. La Liga president is more concerned in trying to have Barcelona matches in USA. Premier League is getting more and more viewers from across the globe and the best coaches in the world all go there too. Only Real Madrid and Barcelona are more attractive destinations overall for a coach or player than top PL teams.

For the first time in European club football history all 4 finalists are from one country.

Re: Hail to the EPL
From  my end I'd like to dedicate this to all my fellow PL regulars
This thread would have been incomplete without commemorating Man United for their historic 6th place finish
So once again all hail the EPL and hearty congratulations to Ole and Man United for becoming the new face of Thursday nights. You deserve it !

Yeah... but back then there were 6 finalists (cup winner's cup). I remember it happened in 1990 with Serie A putting in 4 teams.

They still put the maximum number of teams in the finals and they won all of them. Also, the parity across Europe during that time was at another level.

Re: Hail to the EPL
That's true. European Cup only allowed the previous year's champion (1). Cup Winner's Cup was also the previous national cup winner only (1). UEFA Cup allowed for another 2 for a max total of 4.
So Serie A did put all 4 of its teams in finals in 1990.

Re: Hail to the EPL
What people are talking about is England have 2 of its teams playing in the champions league final and 2 of its teams playing in the EL final in the same season. In 1990 Milan played benfica in the final not another Italian team.

I'm not watching this shit or the EL shit. Hopefully, an alien race craving fish and chips descends about the British isles, kidnapping all the players and inhabitants. Both competitions get cancelled and everyone outside of the Premfag community feels jubilant and elated.
But the "Premfaces" will be even more intolerable than they have been recently if a joke team like Spurs can come out of nowhere to win it. Makes our failures in the competition look even worse

Re: Hail to the EPL
I've been saying for multiple seasons that Spurs are better than the majority of Europe's 'top' teams tbh
let's not forget that last season (I think it was last season) they outplayed Juventus for like 170 minutes, beat eventual winners Real etc
there have been worse finalists than Spurs in the last decade.

Re: Hail to the EPL
The only team worse than them in final was Chelsea who won in 2012
Apart from that...
2011 Man Utd: superior
2012 Bayern: superior
2013 Dortmund: arguably superior
2014 Atletico: i don't remember which team they had
2015 Juve: superior
2016 Atletico: superior
2017 Juve: superior
2018 Liverpool: superior
Spurs are a misfit in CL final, they are a good team who benefits from a very open year in european football

Re: Hail to the EPL
I'm not so sure about Manchester 2011.
They had washed up Giggs playing DM, Park and Valencia on the wings, Chicharito upfront, scrub LB Fabio starting at right back... That's pretty medicore if you ask me.

Testament to how SAF carried that club, what a disgusting lineup, i remember Berbatov had an explosive season as well but then decided to start Chicha since he was flavor of the month.
Only Vidic in that squad was worth his salt pre-injury

Don't know why people are acting like this is a bad thing.
Apart from the EPL, the leagues have been so boring for the last however long. Serie A is the snoozefest of the century, with la liga and buli not far behind.
Also, they are doing this without arguably their best player. I think its more than them benefiting form an open year.

Spurs may be a misfit but I think the first team is very strong. Lloris, Toby, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Son, Kane and Dele AllĂ would all be able to start for "better" teams without many issues, as could Pochettino. They have shit FBs and DM but I think their main issue is the lack of depth, not so much quality. Which is why they always fall apart in the final stages of the league.

Re: Hail to the EPL
I was agreeing with your post until you wrote Dele Alli. Does nothing particularly well, and not many things correctly either. An SS who isn't good enough be an SS played as an AM, who isn't good enough there either. Big gap in quality between him and Son/Eriksen/Kane.

Salty af Serie A "fans". God, how is that even a thing?! I love Spanish football, personal preference but come on, EPL is clearly the superior league in terms of name a category. Also, mad stupid disrespect for a great manager that is Poch and Spurs, who even I can admit is pretty good.
