does this ban mean they cant sell players either.Mr Nick09 wrote:Fifa's Appeal Committee has rejected #CFC's appeal against a two-window transfer ban (with the exception of minors). The club now have the option to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to see if the ruling can be overturned, or the ban delayed. https://t.co/M2mmg0jiSo

Selling is fine, they just can't register new players at Chelsea

1 year and he will leave. They signed and registered pulisic already for this situation.
Next step is Chelsea petitioning TAS which will likely suspend the ban

Worse. He's been benched by Danish Dortmund youth scrub Jacob Bruun Larsen

In that sense it's good for them that the FIFA appeal was decided so quickly. While there's a CAS appeal going on, they can register players can't they?

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
I asked this the other week and noone replied so I'll ask it again
Why is the PL finishing a week early? Why aren't they using next weekend's game day too as all other leagues, especially seeing the stupid fixture congestion in recent months when they schedule FA cup and PL ties on the same weekends?
I was wondering it had to do with th play offs, but those are already being played today and anyway no PL team is involved.
Just seems odd. There'll be two whole weeks break between FA cup final and CL final. Why?

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
PL or English Football doesn't make sense a lot of time:
Freaking Curabao Cup
Insane fixtures in holiday season
But I guess the last game-week is set aside for the FA Cup Final.
Just my assumption.

The FA Cup final is played when the other leagues play their last match day.
Then the next weekend the other leagues play their cup final and in England there's nothing.
Considering the congestion earlier this seems absolutely stupid to me.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
the English lge finishes a week early so our clubs can get a extra weeks rest before we have to play for the Euro cups. The rest of you guys in Europe don’t have that problemHapless_Hans wrote:I asked this the other week and noone replied so I'll ask it again

This is the closest I've found to an answer:
https://www.teamtalk.com/news/fa-has-their-way-as-reasons-emerge-for-early-premier-league-start
It seems to be a result of the Premier League and the FA agreeing to start early so teams have more time to prepare for the FA Cup final. It seems TV broadcasters will pay more to show the FA Cup final if they have assurances it'll be a high quality game. I guess they feared that having it a week after the season ended didn't give the players enough rest.
The article also mentions the winter break, which comes into effect next season. Starting early allows a bit more flexibility in the schedule so the FA Cup final doesn't have to be pushed back. Seems the PL have allowed this much given the FA have acquiesced to scrapping 5th round FA Cup replays and moving that round to midweek instead of a weekend.
Such is the fun of having two major governing bodies with differing priorities.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
Final day of the PL today. Here are the permutations for the title race:
- City win = City Champions
- City draw + Liverpool win = Liverpool Champions
- City draw + Liverpool draw/loss = City Champions
- City loss + Liverpool win = Liverpool Champions
- City loss by five or more goals + Liverpool draw = Liverpool Champions
- City loss by less then five goals + Liverpool draw = City Champions
Those last two conditions can get more complicated as in the event that points and GD are tied, teams will be separated by goals scored. If City lose 4-0 and Liverpool draw, both teams will be on 95 points with +69 GD, but City have scored 91 goals while Liverpool have scored 87. In which case, City would still win the league... unless Liverpool drew 4-4. Both teams would then have identical points, GD, GF and GA, which if IIRC would then lead to a special play-off game to determine the Champion.
And for the final CL spot, as unlikely as it is:
- Spurs win/draw = Spurs in CL
- Spurs lose and Arsenal win, and there's an eight goal swing = Arsenal in CL
To explain this one, Spurs' GD is currently +28 while Arsenal's is +20. If Spurs lose 4-0 at home to Everton and Arsenal win 4-0 at Burnley, Arsenal will go into fourth. If Spurs lose 3-0, Arsenal need to win 5-0, and so on.

Thanks for the detailed layout. Sadly, there's not much suspense going into today, too unlikely that City won't win.

Re: 2018/2019 Premier League Discussion Part III
And Wolves are no pushovers themselves either. Liverpool could very well draw/lose given Wolves record against the top 6 and also Liverpool this season.
That being said, anything can happen. CL has proved that. I'd say the Pool comeback and Spurs chance of comeback after halftime were both lower than the odds that City draw/lose and Pool win

Not when you consider the very well noted LOL Liga and Eredivisie being trash inflation adjustment scale.
In the GOAT league such inferiority complexes are less likely to happen as seen by this scale.
