Re: Frenkie De Jong
Lyon had a whole trio of fantastic U23 midfielders in action this CL, all of them performing better than Frenkie, Betancur, or Fifi Valverde for that matter.
Caqueret, Guimaraes and of course, Aouar.
But I think before long Bellingham will make a strong case, kid looks absolutely incredible.

That's true. But I'm not saying Frenkie is necessarily *the best*, i'm just saying he's clearly above average, with great potential. I will not accept hyperboles like "he's only good at shielding the ball and running with it"
If that's the case, then maybe the standard in general has lowered. Because I don't see a Xavi-level talent in this generation of players. The bar may have lowered a tad bit

Sure. And also Barca have been a mess, difficult for young players to develop when there's turbulence surrounding the team, and hard to judge them on what happened in the last season.

If Kroos and Modric are the top CM's of this era, like Xavi and Iniesta were before them, Frenkie will be the top CM of the upcoming generation.
The Mbappe of CM's.

Re: Frenkie De Jong
Cmon hes playing with another 18 year old kid and totally finished Busquets
this is a project in development, as a team Barca this season is completely unprepared to compete in CL knockout stages. The mentality, the physical and tactical preparation are all on EL level this year.
Nevertheless, he's been our standout player in copa/liga so far and even scored some great goals as a B2B.
Top 3 by rating in team, messi is naturally always #1

Re: Frenkie De Jong
Awful bump. It would make more sense if Frenkie wasn't one of Barca's stand out players this season and if he hasn't developed this season, but he has. He's added end product to his game, scoring more goals this season and he's the one who won the penalty for Barca. The guy plays for a disfunctional team and is one of the few bright spots.
Clear and obvious baiting/trolling.

In my defense, the "the Mbappé of CMs" bit was too good an opportunity to pass on

The Twitterline was comparing this lad to Yohan Cryuff back in the days, like some football genius that changes football just by being on the pitch lol, I had some good laughs.
Good player, he can reach Paulinho’s level if he continues at this pace.

Re: Frenkie De Jong
Standout player? Let's not go overboard now. He played whack up until December or so then showed a bit of form from then on against La Liga minnows and that's that.
He is a player like any other. Mostly average with a good spell here and there, nothing to write home about.

Re: Frenkie De Jong
Not gonna argue about how good he is, but just to point out who hes playing with in midfield - old man slow motion Busquets, 18 yo Pedri, Puig whos like even younger? Or looks like he needs more milk still, and who else, old man slow motion Pjanic, and the other day a youngster from B team I believe it was, so I wouldnt judge him too much atm Still far and away our best midfielder, who is actually athletic and can run. Time will just show how good he is when Barca actually starts to form a proper team next season hopefully.

Re: Frenkie De Jong
He is a very good player though I doubt he will ever be world-class. But in the worst Barca team of the decade, he is one of the few contributing regularly.

Re: Frenkie De Jong
There will always be haters but he is bossing it for both club & country and your negativity won't change that. Also important to add that in this current Barca it's even harder to shine cause you gotta put in 2x more effort since others are useless.

Re: Frenkie De Jong
He is only 24, and is frankly better than Modric was at that age (and I really rated Modric before he even went to Spurs). Still to reach the absolute highs of being a "generational talent", but he is clearly on the way.
