Benzema is a world class player. Not a great striker but lovely player who slayed the likes of Liverpool in CL final (super Salah couldn't even manage a goal)

There's plenty of players who are Ballon d'Or nominees for only doing great in a certain cup tournament and some of them were even integral figures in their respective team. So going by that metric, it's fair to say that Benzema's nominee is justified.

- Mandzukic for scoring decisive goals in World Cup as well as being a key player for Croatia.

- Courtois for being the best GK in World Cup.

- Mane for scoring 10 UCL-goals.

- Lloris for being captain for a WC-winning team as well as making crucial saves.



And yet, I haven't seen people moaning about their nomination...

I trust my eyes..I can bring statistics to prove that Cristiano Ronaldo is better creator than iniesta... But that doesn't fit the narratives does it?

Benzema is equally responsible for our terrible league record in past 8 years.. How is him not scoring not relevant just because Ronaldo didn't score until January.

Infact shouldn't Benzema be the one saving the team when CR wasn't scoring? Benzema is some one who can only score when CR start scoring? Benzema has been riding this CR train for a while now and now that CR is gone there is no excuses to fall back on. No shot on target in 6 games and this time to CR to blame. I really chuckle at benzema fans who will bring up CR and Isco the moment we address benzemas incompetency.

He scored goal against Bayern because of GK mistake on an open post... Nothing to write home about calma.

He again scored goal against Liverpool with a GK error. When was the last time Benzema actually finished off a difficult chance in an important game?..

He doesn't anymore. He just link up with midfielders and runs toward the far post for a header that is his strikers movement ... Then he wonder why he isn't getting any shooting opportunities. The guy is easier to read for defenders than readers digest. There is no element of surprise in his play.

Can't dribble, can't do a through ball, can't operate as a target, shit finishing, no work rate, no defensive effort, not an aerial threat, very weak at dummy runs (see Suarez for further on this).

All those players you mentioned actually performed at a higher level in whole of tournament and not here based on goalkeeper blatant errors.

You can compile Benzemas cl efforts last year and that video would end in 3 minutes. Unless we bring in the modern CF theory to explain the tactical relevance of false DM Benzema is pretty much easy to judge. Terribly overrated player who rode the CR shadow.

I actually think this list arent that bad, its included some names for their consistent performances rather than just name, Mandzukic is the biggest example, agree or not, which is a good thing right? Like Dani Alves we hardly played being in the RB for the FIFA Best award I think was just strange as much as I like him, I guess they included him since he never disappointed when dressing up for these award ceremonies
