Either a 3-5-2 with Fernandinho or Bernardo on the right, or a 3-4-3 diamond with Mendy playing as a left sided midfielder.

Interesting choice to leave out all three wingers against a team that's going to park it, though.

it's basically all out till you can break them down and score.

You don't need a formation against teams that have no intention to attack. Just leave 2-3 defenders a bit deep so they can stop possible counters.

It's a training match. City creating angles and chances at will. Working on new movements and combinations. Players testing new positions. Mendy at CF few mins back.
