It's harsh tbf, we all know it. That glaring error against Kommander (who then scored two set pieces, it is what it is) will define his WhoScored rating this tournament, unfortunately. I don't think he had to make a save besides that, same against Iran. I think he will come good against Russia, no denying he's been poor in the WC though. But we can;t define a players career based on three games ffs. I'll allow the banter, just pls nobody tell me he isn't absolutely elite.

He is elite but maybe watching Pique and Ramos numpty it up in front of him and Iniesta stroll around without his cane has deeply impacted his morale

DDG has never been tasked in high pressure moments like the World Cup to be honest, dude is yet to play CL football and is 28. Shame he is wasting his prime years playing for Yanited with no pressure as he has a lot to gain from playing high level games in the CL for a top team. That experience is invaluable

The only goals De Gea conceded were penalties here, he's done nothing wrong whatsoever all game.
Meanwhile, what did Isco create with his 65 + dribbles?

Taking into account that De Gaffer's record in this World Cup (including the penalty shootout from today) is 10/11 it is safe to say that he was pretty awful

I don't blame De Gea for Spain's failure but it doesn't change the fact that he's still a pleb of a goalkeeper hmm

He made like 1 error all tournament and was consistently let down by the Spanish chuckle brothers Ramos and Pique throughout the tournament IMO.

i said it before, on the lopetegui thread- spain not doing well would make him a martyr, the reality is, we can't know how spain would or would not have performed with him. players play on the pitch, not the coach.

as far as de gea, he had a forgetful world cup but they went out to penalties, its not like he did a butter fingers like he did the first game. if anyone is to be the culprit it should be pique who has spent time learning how to pass from the back than the basic principle of defending- don't raise your hand in the box.

Yeah, agreed with Tito, De Gea's WC was shit but he definitely is not at fault for the PK shoot out. The WC is the pinnacle of football and some guys simply can't perform to that level, no shame in that. Just add De Gea to that list.
