NextGen Series 2011-12

i think we had thread about this but i cant find it.

anyway, it starts on 17 August
"The NextGen Series is a European football club cup competition for under-19 footballers. It is similar in form to the UEFA Champions League and will provide a competition for youth players an opportunity to play other young European footballers. (Each squad is permitted three over-aged players who are no older than 20.)"

so who do you think will be the stars of the show?

thanks to the good work done for the academy by LFC since a few years now i think we will have a pretty strong squad, with the likes of Sterling, Suso, Shelvey, Robinson, Flanagan as main players

dumbass idea, i'm glad valencia aren't participating

all this will result in will be a) massive travel expenses that won't be covered because very few people will watch ergo it has zero commercial appeal and b) players who are burnt out at 26 because they started playing 2 games a week when they were 18

I'm not a fan of this myself but we'll see how this plays out. The traveling expenses part Che brought up is a good point. Wonder if UEFA would be willing to foot at least half of the bill for the opening seasons until it gets into full swing (if it makes it that far)...

They will play 11 matches spread over a season hardly going to affect them.Also most teams participating in this tournament are reducing their normal reserve matches to accommodate this so dont think burn out will ever be an issue.

I usually agree with your opinions but this time I think you are exaggerating. Ryanair flies to all those cities for 30€ a ticket if bough with time. Although I understand that can be a problem for Valencia that is broke Very Happy

(and for Barça too, as we don't even print in colour now Very Happy

)

I also don't think players will be that burned down for playing 10 games more a season (at most).

Why Madrid doesn't participate?

but i looked for it with the search function and i couldnt find it. you just edited its title, didnt u Wink
