Asensio looks like a star to me
We've tried to make Jese, Morata and even Sarabia into stars when they clearly lacked the quality... yes, even Jese pre-injury. He had the blistering pace but didn't show top level technical ability to me.
Asensio has it all. His technique is superior. Dribbling is also superior. He has good pace. His passing ability (and more importantly, his passing timing) is very good. AND he's just scratching the surface.
Really excited to see where this kid ends up.

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
Literally, I had the same mindset throughout the match. Unless the club has a building wide stroke and we sell him off, we actually have a real gem on our hands.

He does look good, he is still looking for balance between coming deep and being a protagonist up front but so far so good, he is a real talent

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
Sarabia never played for the first team. Still Sarabia>>>>>>>>Asensio. That kid has one gifted left foot. Throughballs left right and center and he is the only one with a similar profile to Asensio. The others are completely different players.
Though I love the b players minus James. Would love it if they could all fit into our starting line up over Bale/Benz and perhaps Modric. Their technique, movement and teamwork are exquisite to watch. Isco disco, Asensio, kroos, Casemiro in the same midfield ffs

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
To continue the circle jerk of Asensio, kinda agree with Old Man Bill on his very deceptive speed being the choice of boots he wears.
Also, Sarabia was never given a chance at Madrid (or maybe he was too hasty in his decision to leave, either or). If he were part of Lucas and Asensio's age group, Zidane would have made him a key cog in his team.
Definitely a much better winger than Lucas.

No player we have on our ranks is close to Modric in terms of quality at the moment. Only isco and Marcelo come close

The latest plans are for BBC to be transitioned to Asensio, Mbappe, Vinicius over next 2 / 3 years. That in itself says what Asenius is thought of. I guess Tito was right re Odeguaard.
And Doc, all Asensio needs is a shoe deal to improve his speed.

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
Not a chance in the world Asensio compares to Sarabia in pure raw talent. This does not rule out Asensio's ability to have a good career given unlike Pablo or other failed Cantera he knows how to actually USE and channel his aggression and abilities yet Sarabia and his hype was higher and just because he has not panned out the way we expected does not take away from his talent to which Asensio simply does not have even if he ends up having the better career.
Jese was hyped just as much but truly was just a speed merchant.
Besides, Sarabia had a few good seasons in Getafe and has actually been very good for Sevilla anyway.

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
On Vinicius wrote:The advice of Amadeu, a man who clearly has the best interests of VinÃcius at heart, was crystal-clear: keep a watchful eye on the teenage talent, but do not burden his young shoulders with unnecessary and unfair expectation just yet.
But then Real Madrid have never really been in the business of listening to the opinions of other people. Ignoring Amadeu’s advice as well as the seemingly insignificant fact that he is yet to play a single minute of senior football, Real decided to spend £37.7m on the 16-year-old, according to reports in Brazil. That’s more than they paid for Luis Figo, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric. That’s more than 18 of La Liga’s other 19 clubs have ever spent on a single player.
VinÃcius himself will receive two further payments of £6.76m directly into his young savers account and be eligible to move to the Santiago Bernabéu as soon as he turns 18. Which, seeing as he was born in the year 2000, will be in a year and a half’s time.
At least, he's staying in Brazil until he's 18. The kid hasn't even played senior football, yet, and we're paying ridiculous sums for him. Must be the Neymar effect..

We really signed a 16 year old for almost 40 mil and he hasn't played a single first team game?

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
lol with the Vinicius signing. He may pan out... but it won't be because of some incredible insight by the club. Would be largely pure luck lol.
There is ZERO data on him against senior sides. None.

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
Well we spend god knows how much foolishly on more established players so this is nothing. Not sure how much Odegaard cost us... but that's another example of projecting things with little hard data. It may work out but it may not. 40 mil is a lot to gamble like that with though.
The kids are the ones that lose usually, which is the shame of it.

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
There is no way I would give a vote to vicniicus, even from videos he seems just average. You cant predict the future of the player who is not even playing for the first team. Neymar was different because he was scoring every game in the first team.
I think madrid are making another mistake like Neymar ignoring dembele. yes mbapee is important but so is dembele. we need them both.

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
Deserves to start over Benzema.
Ronaldo as CF imo
Guys got it all. Pace, dribbling, big game mentality etc.
Where does he fit in you guys plans? I'd make him a starter. He deserves it. His story is incredible too.

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
Honestly, he would have been a sure starter for me. Not for Benzema but for Bale. Bale is probably (or definitely) faster in a sprint but Asensio is faster with the ball at his feet without the need to push it 10 yards forward with the hopes of catching it. Needless to say he is just better with the ball in general and more dynamic.
Either this season or next is gonna be his break out season.

I was thinking Isco takes Bale's spot and Asensio takes Benzemas spot. Playing the 442 that we played many times last season

Re: Asensio looks like a star to me
I feel this year we play a lot more 4-4-2 (Isco being the 4th) with Mbappe (regretably Benz occasionally) with Ronaldo up front. In other words some sort of rotation between Bale and Isco.
Post Ronaldo (I assume a couple more years), if we don't sign another winger, I see it as a 4-5-1 with both Isco and Asensio in starting lineup.
