You are aware LB's are supposed to defend more than attack right? Cole has always been a LWB, and so has Marcelo.

When did Marcelo become the best full back (attacking or otherwise) in the world after one season? Must be something in the weather...

Anyway, 15 million euros plus additional payment depending on appearances, goals scored, stuff like that.

Marcelo is not the best LB in anyway, but he is imo better than Ramos is as a back. But he is one of the best attacking backs(wing-back) in the world along with Dani Alves.

Nice but the funny thing is to be labeled best in the world, one must have had, I say, about 2-3 seasons consistently playing at a world class level. Ashley Cole wasn't always considered the best because he wasn't. Took him 2 - 3 seasons of consistent solid performances to be labeled as such. He had real potential but that generally doesn't mean much if not nurtured.

Marcelo had a fine season but that's just the thing, it was a season. He'll eventually, once he continues this level, be considered best in the world by fans other than Madridistas. Until then, it's really premature to label him as such.

I would pay 15-17 million for him. He is not everyone's cup of tea, and although he is very good going forward his defense is lacking for a starter on a team like Madrid. There has to be a balance and just because your good going forward does not mean you can be less good defending.

Also, I would take Ashley cole over him any day of the week, Lahm too.

He was able to keep Pedro and Messi quite on his flank over the four clasico's, only once was Affelay able to get the better of him. Again he was involve in every goal Madrid score in the clasico's last season.

He's worth 35 million euros in today's market, but his actual value should be about 25 million euros. His dribbling and tricks alone are worth a good 20 million.

No, but it seems like Madrid just want to forget the 5-0 thrashing they received, I would too if I were them. You didn't play good defense until you played with 5 defenders. If you have the best goalie and the best leftback plus one of the best central defenders in Pepe and Sergio Ramos you would think you could play with a regular defense and stop Barca.

Something has to give right???? Casillas, Pepe, Ramos, I will agree with, but not Marcelo. You guys had to change your whole defensive set up, you couldn't play straight up because Marcelo would get roasted.

I was referring to the 4 clasico's in quick succession where Barcelona scored 4 goals as opposed to the 3 goals that madrid scored.
