American Beauty is not good in any way. No way how it won best picture Laughing

American Pies though. They're great. Won't hear anything else.

American Psycho also.

American Hustle, Beauty and Sniper are the unofficial "never gonna watch that overrated shit again trilogy"

Never thought about American Beauty as overrated actually. hmm I watched it long back tho. May be need a rewatch. As of now I consider it as a brilliant movie by Sam Mendes.

Agreed with @Firenze, American History X was frcking awesome.

American History X, American Beauty and American Psycho are among three of my favorite ever films.

American Hustle was meh, never watched American Sniper and never will.

American Beauty overrated? I guess you can feel that way, but that movie is awesome.

Yeah there are some cringey moments in it but on the whole it's a great watch. The dinner scene where Kevin Spacey throws the asparagus rofl

University film club is showing it next weekend. Think I'm going to talk to them about getting involved too

I think the makers paid A LOT on publicity because it gets advertised like everywhere. Looks like a terrible film.

I have no idea why Trevante Rhodes wasn't nominated for Moonlight. Performance of the year for me.

I second that^. That final act was all him. Mahershala Ali was class too but still I dont think that part was that hard to do compared to what Rhodes pulled off. The range of emotions he showed was just something.
Anyway I have stopped caring about Oscars. Wont give 2 fks about who win it this term.

Emma Watson should stick to movies such as these and just leave roles that demand acting to other talented girls imo. She was horrible in Colonia and she almost ruined Perks of being a Wallflower for me.

lol at thinking American Beauty is overrated or a poor film. It's one of those films that has a 'complete' feeling to it.

@CB Train to Busan is a must-watch. Join that film club!

Now that I think of it, yea Trevante Rhodes was great, and I can see where Freeza and Glory are coming from. Perhaps he wasn't nominated because of the limited screen time. Felt like the young boy and the adolescent boy had more screen time.

I just loved his acting so much. It was so subtle. The fact they got the most ripped new actor I've seen in a long time and then made him become the former two actors completely was amazing. I'm seriously floored by his performance.

I didn't think he would be believable in the start. But once he got on the phone with Kevin and talked to his mother I lost it.

And his last line is probably one of the most emotional lines I've ever seen. It was amazing.

Can't wait to see La La Land also. Will try to get around to watch all the best pic noms before Sunday and post my top 10 list.

@EG Didn't think screentime was too little. He had 30 minutes or something. That's huge for a supporting role. He just didn't have the political backing I guess.

Can't wait to see him in Predator. That cast looks great and Shane Black is a GOAT
