Is it any good? We get a lot of hype for that show here, cos the leading lady is a Bollywood actress. But I always had the feeling the show on the whole was garbage.

Would have watched it if he was bald and had his goatee. What a shame.

New Netflix show

Looks decent.
Anyone want to take one for the team?

That feel when I write about a show on the page before this without answers, and you post this
I'm probably watching it tomorrow. Loved everything they've done so far (Brit & Zal).

The last post on each page is never a good one tbh
Zal Batmanglij's third "film" basically. It's the third about cults again. No idea why they're both so fascinated with cults

Insane the amount of shows Netflix are bringing out lately. Half are meh but the other half are legit good.
Thinking about making a Netflix thread. Worth it or we do individual shows?

Might as well make it. A lot of their series are basically movies and their movies don't get much attention in the film thread. And I guess we'll need the thread soon anyways the way Netflix is expanding

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
On an Amazon binge currently.
Mozart in the Jungle - Gael Garcia Bernal, Saffron Burrows, and Malcolm McDowell are fantastic in this. As a fan of classical music, I'm just loading up my Spotify playlists with the stuff I hear in this show.
Goliath - Billy Bob Thornton at his best. A composite of so many of his best characters. Olivia Thirlby and Molly Parker are amazing in this as well. I think the actual scene stealer is William Hurt though. Love his character.
Man in the High Castle season 2 - Still strong. Halfway through and I'm not quite sure this is as good as the 1st season, but it's had some great moments so far. Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa remains such a great actor. He's the primary reason I tune in for this show.

The 100 is actually rather good. I'm caught up and season 3 was probably one of the most surprisingly good seasons of TV I've watched this year.

Just spoiled myself about some of the LGBT outrage in at episode 7. I'm dead
That explains the IMDb ratings for the episode. CW fans and their shipping are the worst

Dying reading some of the reviews from the episode. It's like some people haven't gotten the tone and style of the show. It's hilarious

I didn't think it was all that controversial myself, but then I've gotten used to it on TV. It was predictable, but worked well with that particular arc. Didn't seem forced or contrived.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
So Netflix have released an English-version of Versailles (I've watched the French version, which I liked quite a bit) and this one is just as good.
Stars George Blagden (Athelstan from Vikings) as Louis XIV and centers around his building of Versailles while bringing French nobles under control by trapping them at the palace. Intrigue, betrayal, scandal and such ensue.
As a history buff, both versions of this show have impressed me with their ability to stay true to historical facts. And of course it never hurts to film a show like this on location as well.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Moved onto HBO's Big Love, which ended about 5 years ago.
Good drama about a Mormon polygamist businessman who struggles to balance his family life (3 wives and 7 children) with his ambition to become better than the life he was born into by distancing his family from the fundamentalist and polygamist compound that he comes from.
Stars Bill Paxton as the lead character and Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloe Sevigny and Ginnifer Goodwin as his 3 wives. Also stars younger Amanda Seyfried as his oldest daughter. Season 2 boasts a pre-Breaking Bad Aaron Paul as well.
I'm just starting season 2. Very complex show, lots of dynamics and ripple effects. The characters are very richly layered and the writing has been quite good. It appears to be a pretty honest, moderate take on polygamy in America and how it fits into modern society.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Anyone watch Letterkenny? Season 2 just came out
It's one of the funniest tv series I've seen, it's based on Canada small-town living and while I'm about 20 minutes east of Toronto, I've been to smaller towns and the language/lifestyle is shockingly somewhat accurate
It's a good laugh
