Zidane: 'I want to avoid Juventus'
By Football Italia staff
Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane is “eager to avoid Juventus” in the Champions League draw after finishing second in their group.
The trophy holders failed to win their group thanks to a last-gasp 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund this evening.
It means they will face one of the group winners in the Round of 16, which include Juventus and Napoli.
“I am eager to avoid Juventus, but we can’t do anything about it and just have to wait and see what the draw gives us,” Zidane told Mediaset Premium.
“I don’t want to be paired with Juventus for both reasons of the heart and the fact they are a very strong team,” added the former Juve player.
“Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain are great forwards, but I don’t want to compare them to my squad. Juve have their players and we have ours.”

Re: Juventus Champions League campaign 2016-17
Finished first and still could face Bayern, Real or PSG right out of the gate
Our luck
Not to say we wouldn't win but you usually want to win your group to avoid matches such as these in the round of 16. This tournament is so dependent on the draw, match ups and the timing of when you play your games (squad health and form & domestic fixtures).

PSG are easy, Man City are the trouble alongside Bayern and Real.
I don't like to face Guardiola with his tactics. We aren't that good in counter attacks like Chelsea's Conte now, so it is more difficult to win against him.

PSG are more trouble then City, I am more confident with Real and BM tbh.
How aren't we good in counter attacks with Cuadrado, Sandro and now Dybala ?

Don't pay attention to the screen graphics the formation is never the one that's shown on the screen and a formation is changed liek 23094309 times during a game.

We won't be playing 3-5-2 in the CL anymore. Once we get Witsel or another midfielder in January we can adopt the 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-3. Higuain can't play in a 3-5-2. We need him in world class form if we want a shot at the CL title.

True. The only time we played counter was against Bayern last year 2nd leg. That is all, so yeah it could happen, again, but without Pogba this time. I hope we adapt to a more attacking formation soon, because if we stay with a solid 352 like Serie A VS City, I can't see us going through.

What role was Higuain playing when Dybala was gone all this time? Wasn't it like a 4-3-3 role?

We've played 100 different formations since Dybala was out. Last game was a 4-3-1-2 and we played great. Today was more of a 4-3-3 or even 4-4-2. I can't even tell sometimes. All I know is when Dybala went in it was a totally different team.
Higuain needs Dybala to get him the ball. We've been missing that link up play. We will be a totally different team now with Dybala. Can't wait to get that midfielder in January. Too bad we didn't have Witsel this whole time. Would have made a big difference in terms of how we used Pjanic these last 3 months.

trust italian football, juventus knows what they are doing
if they choose one way of play its because its best for them
maybe our players are not as good on counter attacks because of pace or whatsoever so we keep it the best possible way

Since Dybala got injured we started with the regular 3-5-2 with Higuain-Mandzukic, there Hugain was the more SS and Mandz the more CF and it clearly didn't work. Then we went 4-4-2 at times. Then we went 3-5-2 again with Mandz as the "SS" and Higs CF and that was much better. Then 4-3-3 (Sandro/Cuadrado up there). Finally 4-3-1-2 (Atalanta game) and it was great. This game for resting players (Khedira and Sandro) we started 3-4-1-2 so we could preserve Pjanic's role.
Its all a mess but its good experimenting from Allegri.

Man that game. The counters with Pogba, Cuadrado and Morata were just too much. I get all excited just thinking about that first half!

Re: Juventus Champions League campaign 2016-17
We have a good "problem" now. Dybala is back but Mandzukic is in fantastic form and the 2 CFs are finally clicking. Do we break Higuain-Mandzukic? do we put Dybala behind them? or do we just bench Dybala?
It'll be tough for Allegri.

Bench either Higuain or Mandzukic. Higuain-Mandzukic is terrible. They play independently.

Which one do you bench?
Apparently Dybala will be on the bench against Torino and come on later.
