Prime Aguero vs Prime Drogba?

For such an apparent world class striker his goalscoring stats were god awful. Equivalent to that of a Jermaine Defore and Kevin Phillips

As a player i'd take Drogba atm he's been more important to Chelsea with his goals than Aguero has been to City.

A majority of Drogba's accolades came when he was past 30 (Post 2007), So as of now they're equal(Aguero's better in goal scoring terms), What Aguero does post 29 imo will decide it. Will be back in thread in 2020.

Drogba of course. Aguero is a flat track bully compared to him.

Would pick Drogba no matter the stats. There's just something about him.

Aguero is incredible but Drogba is/was a special kind of player.

Aguero is what you'll call more talented for sure . At 24 Drogba was playing in Ligue2 France whereas Aguero has been impressive since a very young age.
In terms of achievement of a football field, imo Drogba is a greater player/legend than Aguero even if he's not better per say. The 2011 goal aside, Aguero is yet to produce moments of greatness like Drogba but he still have plenty of times.

Bottom line, I don't care about who's better but who did more, who's greater.

If I want to win a league marathon: Agüero.
If I want to win a big knockout game: Drogba.

I would probably go with Drogba if I didn't know the system.

Drogba is better at holding up the ball and bringing team mates into play, infinitely better aerially. Kun has maybe better movement for creating space for himself, is undoubtedly a better finisher and the best finisher today for me, offers more penetration though he just bulldoses his way through in a Suarez like manner. It would depend on the team tbh.

If I played a one striker system with no other goal scorer Aguero, in a system with GS wingers/MFs Drogba. AGueros injury record is what is holding him back atm tbh. Hopefully Guardiola sorts it out like he did with Messi.

totally different players but if you want goals then Aguero is your man.

drogba....when aguero can work on his fitness levels, then we can talk. i know drogba didn't score 8000 goals in one season against the likes of sheffield, west brom, wolves et al. but for chelsea he knew how to show up in big moments. another thing i liked about him was, he was a player who worked on his game and improved....when he just left ligue 1, i felt he was crap, and mou just played him cos he was strong. a couple of seasons in, his technique got better, started taking free kicks, and he could give you a full 90 minute shift if need be. he was a warrior.

Drogba was the ultimate big game player and at the end of the day, Drogba won us numerous trophies, and that, I value, over goals.

Aguero is no doubt a wonderful player and will probably be remembered as one of the greatest EPL strikers, but I'd take Drogba for the big game moments, and the better injury record.

Aguero has - 105 PL goals in 151 apps
Drogba had - 104 PL goals in 254 apps



Drogba is one of the worst goal scoring world class CF I have ever seen people jerk off to. CF's primary job is to score goals and it's embarrassing how much better than him Aguero is at that. It's *bleep* hilarious.

Yeah sure I'd have Drgoba in that 1 important match over Aguero. But Football season is not 1 match. Football season is 50 matches before getting to that one important match. I'd rather have Aguero any day of the week.

It depends--I agree most closely with Jibers. If you have a team that needs a CF that does a wonderful job at holding the ball up and distributing it, bullying the CB's, being an aerial threat it's pretty obvious you have to pick Drogba. Overall he is more well rounded than Aguero and has a lot to offer a team like that.

But a team that's capable of building from the back to the front on the ground and doesn't really need the attributes Drogba has but rather a pure goalscorer, I think you have to go with Aguero--his goalscoring is beyond anything Drogba has ever achieved.

This is also assuming Aguero is relatively injury free. If we factor in that Aguero can't stay fit if a particular blade of grass catches him wrong, then it's Drogba either way.

In MY team I would take Aguero, but really it depends on a lot. Can't really answer with a straight answer of Aguero or Drogba.

In terms of ability, Aguero any day of the week. Drogba has a better mentality and is more clutch.

Agree Aguero is definitely more talented and a better player overall but i.m still waiting some legendary performances from him . Didier has plenty of them.
