Re: 2016/17 Preseason Thread
Emre Can starts and Alex Manninger is in goal for Liverpool's friendly against AS Roma at Busch Stadium tonight.
The Reds sign off their pre-season tour of America by facing the Serie A side in St. Louis – and the manager has again made changes.
Can is involved for the first time this summer while Manninger, who signed for the club earlier in the trip, is between the posts.
James Milner is captain.
Liverpool team: Manninger, Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Can, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Ojo, Mane, Sturridge.
Substitutes: Mignolet, Benteke, Coutinho, Henderson, Moreno, Lallana, Brannagan, Ings, Stewart, Wisdom, Markovic, Randall, Alexander-Arnold, George.
no origi in the squad

this game is less than 48hrs since the milan game. I don't like the sound of that tbh.

Re: 2016/17 Preseason Thread
a good few changes to the team but I think we will be a bit tired. klopp is really pushing the players preseason. 3 sessions a day and a shit load of games. I just hope we don't get injuries. origi not in the squad not sure if its injury or rest.

Re: 2016/17 Preseason Thread
Was a good game from what I saw, but the tempo was clearly affected by the pitch and the heat. St. Louis is muggy as hell around this time of year.
Alisson looks promising in goal. His distribution was great and he made some super stops. I'm still skeptical of him though as this is pre-season so we'll see what he can do when there's something on the line. Emerson has looked good on his own out on the left, but Jesus.....goodness me. He was awful, which shouldn't a surprise, but it was anyway. Here's hoping Fazio is better. Manowar was combative as always. Lead the line well. Florenzi, captain for the night, did quite well down the right. Nice move to shake off Coutinho and cross for the Salah goal. I don't want to see him at RB as much as we had to last season, but unless Bruno Peres comes in or TGIP switches to a 3-man backline, that's what we're probably going to see again. At least he's gotten much better defensively.
Midfield was awesome, as usual. Paredes looks tougher now and it showed. The Dutch Jesuus is back in full force and Ninja was quite simply Ninja. Up top, all 3 attackers looked in sync with each other and created plenty for Dzeko, who worked himself into excellent positions. Way better movement than last season.
Positive result, positive football from a strong XI, but it overall gives little indicator as to what we'll do in our CL qualifier or even against Udinese in the Serie A opener. I consider Montreal perhaps a more sterner test than Liverpool primarily because they are mid-season and are much more fit than either us or Liverpool at this point. Beating them convincingly might give better clues as to how strong we'll be going into this new season.

Re: 2016/17 Preseason Thread
I really love Roma's midfield. It's got everything. Industry, technical ability, intelligence and grit. Honestly if Paredes continues to develop and Strootman gets further away from his near career-ending injury there are not many in the world I'd take over it.
That said Liverpool looked tired. Their hectic pre-season schedule seems to be showing a bit. Still had some bright moments but that game was a bit of a write-off. That said if we spend any significant time with Mignolet (or Moreno) as a starter we're in a world of trouble. How can you be a keeper who is afraid of the ball, and afraid of traffic? It's unreal how much his indecisiveness not only affects his own play but the play of the defenders as well. Karius can't heal up soon enough.

Thoughts on Ings? I thought he was dangerous. Is he in Kloppo's plans?

Re: 2016/17 Preseason Thread
I imagine so. He's been quite good in pre-season, has a ton of energy and can finish. Not overly technical but is pretty smart in his movement and can play some nice passes. I think he's third choice at this point (or 4th, if you think Firmino will see time at striker) but I think he'll get enough game time and may even exceed expectations with inevitable injuries. I've always liked him because he gives 100% on every shift. Hope he continues to improve...Klopp seems to like him.

Re: 2016/17 Preseason Thread
MANCHESTER UNITED: De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Blind, Shaw, Carrick, Herrera, Lingard, Rooney, Martial, Ibrahimovic
EVERTON:Stekelenburg, Coleman, Baines, Funes Mori, Stones, Holgate, McCarthy, Barry, Barkley, Deulofeu, Lukaku.
Rooney's testimonal
100% Valencia is Mou's first choice right back this season
LMAO
It's Ivanovic all over again except Ivan was a legit goal threat

Re: 2016/17 Preseason Thread
Mou's been starting Valencia in pre season from what I've seen, plenty of links that we want to get someone new for RB, idk, I like Darmian, even if he had a shaky season after the first few weeks and looked unremarkable. Everything points to Valencia being ahead of him though.
