World Cup 2010 was better

Can't remember the last time I've been less interested in a tournament after the first week. When I did watch, I realized how correct my disinterest was, because the football was terrible.

Can only remember enjoying myself watching Croatia and the Wales 3-1 Belgium game.

Wait , there was a Euro in 2016 ?

I don't know about worst ever but it was pretty awful. Can only recall three good games: Italy-Spain, Germany-Italy, and Germany-France.

But I will give it credit for all the upsets and shocks, it certainly didn't lack drama. Just quality.

Knew someone would go straight to this. I was going to put in the OP to not discuss Ronaldo, but you've gone there already. I'm actually attempting to have a serious football discussion here, something it seems you're not interested. If you are, then present some basis for your opinion.

World Cup 2010 was bad, but still had a lot of great memories. Uruguay-Ghana will go down in Wold Cup history, Netherlands vs Uruguay likewise was a fantastic semifinal (in fact, the Uruguay run in general was fantastic, with Forlan dragging the team to a semifinal they just barely lost out on). Ghana run was also great, especially with the whole of Africa rooting for them.

Incredible drama for the USA as well, that Algeria game

Even individual games stand out, the Germany-England game, and indeed the Germany Argentina game (Germany put on some quality football that tournament, were really entertaining and fun to watch). Spain tiki-taka'd their way through the tournament but whereas a lot of people didn't like their football, I was enjoying watching their technical dominance and skill with the ball. Certainly one of the best WC winning squads of all time. I remember David Villa being outstanding, and Xavi too.

WC 2010 was bad, but I have some good memories from the tournament, there was some quality football on display, and overall it was far superior to Euro 2016.

I can't think of what I'll remember of this Euros. The Iceland and Wales stories were great. I think that's all I'll remember. There was no consistently great, fun team to watch (only France started to get going later on, and Germany were inconsistent themselves at times). More than just the memories, as I've said, I can't remember enjoying almost any of the football. The good games were very few and far between.

Excluding the obvious Fanboyism this was a shitty tournament. Only 3 decent games regardless of Kommander winning it

it wasn't a terrific euro at all. but i definitely preferred it to world cup 2010. i don't think the last euros was all that neither. didn't care too much for copa marketing, i preferred this euro to that

Wouldn't this be a case of opinion vs opinion because I definitely found WC 2010 no better than this Euro. This tournament wasn't full of quality but it was pretty good entertainment bar the Portugal Croatia and Slovakia England matches. Would give a 6.5 or 7 outta 10.

This Euros was about as much the worst international tournament of all time as the US is the worst NT on the planet.

The great majority of threads are opinion vs opinion, and one side tries to convince another that their opinion is more valid. A lot of times it doesn't work, sometimes it does. It yields discussion on the topic though, and that's what threads are for.

And on that note, I'm perplexed that you think the games were "pretty good entertainment". I look back at some of the more historic games like Iceland 2-1 England and even that was just one team parking the bus and the other not having enough quality to break it down.

And to me, that's how a large amount of the games went, in a nutshell. Every international tournament has these games, but euro 2016 had way more than any previous one I can think of, personally.

As a Neutral all the games but 5 were mediocre to shit.... Park the Bus after Park the Bus game than everyone qualifies rule.

They're were 51 Games and most were shit. Final was shit too. LOL, watching Ronaldo command on the sideline was more entertaining than the game.

Hmm, I get how you can be perplexed. For the example you brought up, Iceland vs England, I saw Iceland playing organised football. Nothing romantic but more pragmatic and disciplined and I kinda enjoyed that from them. For England, I was enjoying how this team can capitulate so badly against Iceland. Iceland.

To me, I viewed each match with an open mind and tried to view it with respect to the talent on show and kinda enjoyed most of it for one reason or the other. The two matches I mentioned were just bad matches to me. Nothing I could have find enjoyable.

As for my Copa reference, that tournament had more quality football on show but I really couldn't take it serious when I read Chile was still gonna be in the Confed Cup and defending champs.

I prefer quality over drama

If i want to see drama, kindergarten tournament will give you a plenty of drama

Personally I loved Germany vs Italy. I think it was an amazing match, tactically for me it was probably one of the most interesting matches I've seen in the past months, maybe even the past year.

Germany vs Italy, Crotia vs Spain, Belgium vs Italy. All great games. Iceland and Wales going HAM. Ronaldo taking Portugal to first ever NT cup win was also something special to watch. Great Euros, i enjoyed it a lot.

i loved germany vs italy mainly because of the penalties...especially zaza and to a lesser extent pelle. try as i might it will be very hard for me to forget that run-up, even if he stumbles upon a magic lamp and starts playing like every great player rolled up in one, that run-up is etched in my memory...and i'm not even italian, can't fathom how they handled that

I enjoyed it. There were a lot of tight matches and that's more important to me than seeing sexy football.
