Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
He is probably gonna sit on the bench a lot though. Benzema, Bale and CR would be starting more often than not. Pretty sure Mbappe knows that full well too.

i dont think so, Benzema is finished, he has become a striker that we now praised for not scoring goals it's amazing the way CR deliverred as primera punta this year, but you dont want to repeat this experiment.
Zidane clearly is not a fan of Morata, he had so many chances to play but Zidane kept going back to Benzema

I really wonder who we will sign as backup CF now that Morata is gone...
CF isn't exactly a position we usually are low on. We've been spoiled with great CFs throughout the years. My biggest fear though is, and knowing Zidane this is probably the plan: To have CR as our back up CF....

He is too weak mentally and physically to be able to make it at our club. But time will tell though how he develops. Atm I don't want him at Madrid. These are the kinf of sub appearances we will rate him on when he comes here and his effort was absolutely putrid. France lost their offensive quality as soon as Lemar and Mbappe came on
I am definitively not sold right now
There has been a systemic impotence in France's offense and midfield presence ever since Deschamps took over 5 years ago.
You expect Mbappe to change that in 10 minutes against a well-parked bus?

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
This is Sweden not Atleti. For years our defence has been our weakest point. Any great striker would score against us. 10/15 minsor not he was being bullied by 35 year old Granqvist who plays for freaking Krasnodar. I am not saying he'll never make it but atm he is just this exciting prospect in a very thin looking market nothing more
By all means in 1/2 seasons if he improves then I am happy to be proven wrong but at the moment he isn't all that

We have looked much worse against lesser opponents, including the scrubs we faced at home in the last Euro. This team doesn't provide the best set up for attacking players to shine, especially when we're talking about a 10-minute cameo.
At the moment he's the only teenager in recent memory to score 6 goals in the CL ko stage, his talent is beyond questioning at this point.

Selling your nation short there Hala (for that match anyway). You guys defended really well and totally was earning the draw till you got that bonus from Lloris.
Also, he performed in the UCL Hala. Europe's premier club competition and actually was Monaco's only legit threat against Jjuve. As Farfan said, his potential is really beyond questioning.

Also, nobody said he's a Messi-level talent, you need to give him something to work with: Space, a good through pass, a quick one-two etc...
This team has trouble getting any of that going.

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
Mbappe needs space either as a CF or on the wing to do his thing. Giroud was in his way last night. He's not a 10 or a AM that plays behind a player. Not his game at all.
Also, he's used to the slick passing and technical abilities of a Lemar, Falcao and Bernardo Silva. Fabinho and Bakayoko are pretty technical mids too. With our wonderful coach, you have Matuidi, Sissoko and Giroud. With these 3, the speed of play and technical connections are very limited. No idea how Sissoko and Matuidi start over Kante. Payet is in awful form too... It was just a strange choice of teams. DD was playing not to lose inexplicably.
So in short... not surprising that DD is forcing him into a role he's bad at. This is the coach that started Sissoko and Payet over Kante and Dembele/Mbappe/Lemar lol. He's basically a Mourinho. Awful for attacking-type players for the most part.

Deschamps is a terrible coach, he is just awful. it took him 3 years to understand that Griezmann is best behind the CF, and it was almost an accident. he is a complete idiot, sissoko , keeping Kante on the bench, Lacazette not even sniffing the pitch, Lemar and Dembele dead on the bench.

If Morata was staying, I would question this cost / acquisition, however this move gives us a legit challenge to Benzema and starts the transition from one generation to next.

Time to accepts facts
Leaving James, Mariano, Morata, Coentrao, Pepe
Incoming, Theo Hernandez, Vallejo, Marcos Alonso
Plus a forward (Mbappe?)

Doesn't seem like there is rhyme or reason ( or even personal conviction) to his selections.
Payet went from "not part of my plans" to undisputed starter after a couple months of media pressure.
Umtiti went from 6th choice to starter simply because he moved to Barça, same for Mathieu who suddenly became good enough for the national team the moment he moved there.
Gameiro wasn't part of his plans when he was having his best season, but the moment he moves to a bigger club he's selected and starting.

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
There is alot you can tell from body language. He is the next big thing and he has to show it with every minute he plys. We have basically judged Morata based on 10 min cameos, if Mbappe comes here and doesn't score from just 2 10 min cameos he'll be labelled a flop. To make it at this level you don't only require talent but you need resilience too. It's one thing to do it for Monaco with little to no expectations than to do it for France with the weight of the country on your shoulder the sort of expectations he will have with us
We arent a patient team, Mbappe cant come, take his time to acclimatise, all while keeping better performing players on the bench for long. We know that first hand. All our front 3 have been booed beyond belief throughout their Madrid career, is this kid tough enough to have that level of critiscm levelled at him, I mean he cried himself to sleep because Silva was too mean to him
He keeps improving his goal return every year for Monaco and you can bump my posts for all I care but for now thanks but no thanks. I'd rather we go after someone like Belotti or just switch our formation to make Ronaldo a sttiker and Benz his back up

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
sorry but morata was at juve and could not even become a starter with them lol, two years got benched by fckin mandzukic. Selling him for 70-80 today is a benediction, can't believe we are pulling this off.
the arguments you are using are not very convincing. The kid tore europe a new hole this season lol. and saying things like he has to prove it with madrid and what not are cliche, duh, we know that.
Has he shown enough in ability, talent and performances to be signed? hell yes, it's all that matters.
belotti lol, wtf

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
Yea...I bet that Mbappe will likely sign either this year or next, there's alot on the table that convinces me of this happening more than it not. I'm less convinced that he will join us this season though but we shall see.
We'll either have to go with a Chicharito 2.0 scenario, trust either Mayoral or Mariano, or maybe even Bench Benzema in favor of Asensio and Isco, which seems unlikely. In any case if Zizou continues squad policy then starting 11 should fluctuate.
If Mbappe comes he wouldn't be given peanut minutes, in fact i don't think we would approach and he would agree without some sort of plan being put in place anyways. Can Mbappe be integrated into an Elite team and Benzema be transferred into a nonetheless valuable sub role? I think so. There won't be fallout with Benz from either him or media imo.

You're having doubts over Mbappe who tore the CL apart and won L1 with Monaco but you want belotti who hasn't played a minute of football outside Italy?

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
Tore CL a new one? Lol lets no go overboard here. His 2 best games were against Dortmund. The rest he was just ordinary. Even against the only decent team in France PSG he was ordinary and how many times did they play them
Morata helped his team to a CL final scoring against every single big team and then helped his other club win the league against Barca no less. That's why he is going for as much as he is. Mbappe has got alot of hype around him just like Dybala last season. Now nobody cares about Dybala anymore. That's how football wotks
Belotti scored 26 goals for a poverty team like Torino. He is a much bettrr choice right now given the price of both players

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
You can quicker convince an 18 year old to play a subdued role than a 23 year old Belotti who is not that younger than the 24 year old Morata looking like he is about to leave. And as usual, Nick has a tendency of not giving players he no longer has (or in this case, never had) an interest their just dues.
Morata came through big time for us and one cannot rewrite history. Whatever he did at Jjuve has no bearings on what he did for Madrid this season. Utd, if the deal goes through, has themselves a really nice forward.

Tore city apart (2 goals in 2 games)
Tore dortmund apart (3 goals)
Best player for Monaco against Juve (1 goal)
Crazy thing, he never started a CL game until the City elimination round game lol.
Why do you think EVERY club is bending backwards to sign him? He annihilated people in the elimination round of the CL. 6 starts. 6 goals. And it's not just the goals... he was dominant other than Juve where he had little support (and even then, he gave Alves/Barzagli plenty of trouble alone).
Not to mention he annihilated Ligue 1 no problem either.
he was DECISIVE. winning games by himself. He CARRIED Monaco to the title... i can count 4 games in the last 6 weeks that he literally won for Monaco as they were in trouble.
So hala... don't talk about things you have no idea about.

Re: Transfer Rumours | Tactics | Who to buy/sell etc
And to be clear Mbappe played fine next to Falcao and both scored plenty. But Falcao is a really good and unselfish footballer. He sucked defenders out to allow for Mbappe to make runs behind them and vice versa. Same with Mbappe for Falcao.
Giroud just doesn't have the ability to suck anything or make those runs. Not that there's anything wrong with Giroud... but he's not that type of players. Mbappe should have played WIDE with Giroud. Instead, our wonderful coach puts Mbappe next to him. What's worse, he puts Lemar wide of him so Mbappe moving outside is a crowd. Incredible.
With CR, it would be great imo. CR makes runs and uses his speed. Likes to move around. That's what Falcao does (nowhere near as well either).
And the big thing is that Mbappe loves to make that near post run that Benzema NEVER does. When Cr is looking to cross, it's crying for that near post run.
Also, Mbappe missed the last NT game due to a thigh bruise. So he hadn't played or trained much for almost a month. If he would have come back into Monaco where he knows the system great and his teammates, it would have been fine. But playing an unfamiliar role with new teammates for 10 mins only... never had a chance imo. One of those strange subs that should never have happened. Ousmane Dembele was sharp and ready (let alone Lacazette)... they should have been the ones coming in.
