Hazard is the sideway dribble king
There was the sideways pass and there is now the sideway dribble, Side to side, from one touchline to another.
Ideal to allow the other team to reorganize after a counter, perfect to move to give people an impression you are doing something productive.
Seriously, i thought i was the only one that thought it was odd but after reading a few reactions here i am not what a freaking useless way of playing. I have not seen a young talent stagnate as much in recent years.

His mentality is very weak right now. Not sure what happened. He seems satisfied when he should feel revolted.

Re: Hazard is the sideway dribble king
Dunno what he was like in France but he always been like that in England.
Which is why i'm critical, he has all the talent but hardly ever shows it when it actually matters. The comparison i gave him of the Belgian Nasri ( and Urban tbf) is actually on point tbh He has all the technical talent in the world but never has the confidence to show it and Nasri was the same.
Until he shows up when it matters for club or country and actually shows confidence himself i'll never rate him as highly as some people do.

Re: Hazard is the sideway dribble king
he needs to add other elements to his game, he has basically been the same player for the last 3 or so years. i think he's a good player, not necessarily a leader. sometimes can't seem to impose himself, at least he couldn't on numerous occasions last season with chelsea, when things didn't go his way just shrugged and quit

Tbh who rates him apart from his fanboys and some English pundits and commentators ?
The guy is not even Willian level and strangely somehow he's always been talked along the lines of Messi and Ronaldo.

Re: Hazard is the sideway dribble king
Come on... he was incredible for the full season in 2014-2105. Chelsea won the EPL/FA Cup double and he was clearly the best player on both team and the league.
At 24, it was very impressive and I thought it just showed that he had gotten used to the league.
THAT SAID, Mourinho destroyed pretty much everyone at Madrid as well in his 3rd year and it took until the following January for most of them to recover (Carlo's first 4 months, Madrid were atrocious too).
I think it's just unlucky that the Euro happened in the summer for Hazard. I get the feeling he will rise next year under Conte just like most of the Madrid players did under Carlo. Just needs a bit of time to get himself right.
I shudder to think how Benzema would have performed if the world cup was in summer of 2013 as opposed to 2014 for example

Re: Hazard is the sideway dribble king
Not really, he was great in the second half of the season but none of it was against anyone relevant.
His best big game performance in England was probably against Man City with Demichelis marking him
I wouldn't say he was clearly the best player anyway, he was in the second half of the season but the first half of the season both Costa and Fabregas were far more instrumental ( especially in the big games) hell even Oscar could be argued in the first half of that season.
In the second half he stood out because he was the only one who was great while the rest were trash, but he wasn't clearly the best player through out the season. ( just the second half)
Even during that second half he didn't produce any great performances against big teams, he just carried them against the shite.

Anyhow, I have a soft spot for him as he ruined the Spurs at the end of this season

Re: Hazard is the sideway dribble king
Not every young talent has the obligation to become a young player. I mean, you're a millionarie in your 20s, are popular, court whoever you want and can live a lifestyle reminiscent of a rock star. I know most people would conform themselves with that.
It might not be the best choice in such a short career, but if one handles himself decently, you can live a quiet and high end life. The football fan in us of course always needs players to perform at their top level, as spectators, but the reality is different. Some people just aren't made for high pressure, or are not mature enough to handle it (again, 20 year olds or even teenagers).
Same shit has happened to Goetze, Wilshere or tons of others.

He's uniquely talented in the art of sideway dribbling, no doubt

Re: Hazard is the sideway dribble king
I've also said this before.
Hazard is surely talented, but I think he is too in love with being on the ball and it really ends up being a detriment to his team. When he plays direct and fast with quick passes he looks incredible. However, he seems way too happy to get the ball and then stall, dribbling sideways or drawing people backwards -- this just lets the other team get into formation (though I think he is expecting to find a hole buying this time).
At this point he's the ultimate example of a dribble (forward or otherwise) not advancing his teams position. Even against Wales multiple times they looked to be on a fast break until he touched the ball and slowed the entire play down allowing Wales to set up and snuff it out.

Surely it's better to be the king of something as opposed to being the king of nothing.

One of the biggest passengers I've ver seen in my lfe.
Does he ever do anything defensively for his team? He's walking back all game
Give me brave resilient Robert Snodgrass over him.

You're pushing it with Robert Snodgrass, but Hazard should definitely fight harder for his team off the ball.

I wouldn't trade prime Stewart Downing for Hazard.
The guy doesn't play for his team. Nobody got time for liabilities.

Re: Hazard is the sideway dribble king
I notice that once a player fails to score, people generally say X player is in bad form or X player is a flop. Its ridiculous tbh. That being said, hazard is just an average player at best imo. I've always wondered what all the hype has been all about.
He doesn't seem to know how to re invent himself as all he seems to do is to bump into players running sideways.

Nah, it's nothing to do with that. He just hasn't figured out how to put his skills together into a consistent and effective performer. Never has and to blame his managers for that is unfair, i mean his best big game performance was probably against City when Demichelis was playing DM a few years ago.
As if that's his managers fault, compare to De Bruyne who isn't as technically gifted but knows how to use what he has and make himself a consistent and effective performer which is something Hazard still hasn't figured out.
I have been waiting for it for about 3 years and i'm still waiting.

Re: Hazard is the sideway dribble king
intelligence of movement is always underrated in football
Hazard literally has none. his football starts when the ball touches his feet and ends when it leaves.
He is not far from a football retard, however harsh thta sounds
