Will Kane confirm his performance in 2016/17 or remain a two season wonder?
Harry Kane: 2016/17 prediction poll
I'm calling it. Kane has peaked.
It's downhill back to his actual midtable place from here.
What do you guys think?
Poll runs a month.

Re: Harry Kane: 2016/17 prediction poll
Would be much obliged if some benevolent mod could edit the poll to say 16/17 (I forgot to change it after copying it from my other thread)?
THANKS

No he hasn't, he's a great player you don't score 20+ two seasons running if you don't.
He's just a poor fit for this England side, that doesn't take away from his quality he's just ill-fitted to this team. He'll still bang them in next season for Spurs.

Re: Harry Kane: 2016/17 prediction poll
Even though England uses a lot of Spurs players, the systems are very different.
Spurs win the ball higher up and always have players close to Kane. It's easier for Kane to take up his unorthodox positions when defenders are on the back foot and occupied by runners.
For England he's expected to play as a more traditional 9 - as an outlet for the creative players in the team. Unfortunately he doesn't have that sort of movement, and he clearly doesn't have the same relationship with Sterling and Lallana that he does with Lamela and Erikson.
So he'll continue scoring for Spurs, in a system he's more comfortable in. He'll score for England too but won't be anywhere near as prolific.

Re: Harry Kane: 2016/17 prediction poll
The only English CF who would have played well against Russia and Wales is Andy Carroll, due to his aerial ability. There's been just no space to work with for Kane at the first two games of the Euros. You need either a target man or a false-9 against parked buses like these, not guys like Kane or Vardy who need a bit of room to be effective. Kane will shine again in the Prem.

Re: Harry Kane: 2016/17 prediction poll
Kane has played against plenty of deep defenses with Spurs. It comes down to Sterling and Lallana being, well, pretty shite, and the fact that England in general aren't playing to the level they were previously as a whole. People overreacting again. Kane has been fantastic for England up until the Euros.
This thread is disgusting and should be deleted. Hans in more decline than moal and mcagger. When was the last time a two season 20+ goal a season striker and golden boot winner been doubted like this? Kane is the greatest England striker since prime Shearer

Considering 5/11 players are from his team how is he a poor fit?

Re: Harry Kane: 2016/17 prediction poll
Don't buy it tbh.
I truly thought him a one-hit wonder after that breakout season and then he came back and had another great one at Spurs. 2 average games with England doesn't undo 2 great club seasons.
Just because 4 of his teammates are in this squad doesn't necessarily mean he'll play better. Chemistry is one thing, tactics are another.

It's not about that it's how we play.
Spurs press high and support him quickly with numbers, England doesn't do it. There's lots of slow build up and building through the fullbacks with not a great deal of support runs from midfield.
You just have to look at the difference when someone like Vardy and Sturridge is on, this team is so much better with a striker who is mobile, with pace and finishing instincts like the two i mentioned.
As Jay mentioned in the Euro thread, most of Kane's good performances for England have come off the bench he just doesn't fit into how this team is set up, he doesn't get the support he needs and he doesn't make the runs to make the most of what Rooney does whereas Vardy and Sturridge does.
As i said this doesn't make him bad, in fact he's great and he'll continue to score for Spurs but for England? he's best as an impact player from the bench for now.

I used to think he was legit, but nowadays I actually think he's just lucky / smart. 70 dribbling and ball control, but 90 finishing. He'll get exposed in the end.

I said it 3 years back. He will have a Robbie Keane like career. They are pretty similar.

Robbie Keane hit a career high 23 goals one season. That was his highest ever tally. Harry Kane has 31 and 28 the last two seasons. He's hit 5 goals in 8 apps this season
They don't even play similarly either
