Bale was absolutely terrible once again. Guy got lucky with two GK errors and has done nothing apart from that.

Seriously thought we screwed up again when Rashford came on. England needed creativity and ideas to feed the forwards already on the pitch, not another forward. Sturridge's brilliance saved us in the end.

We've seen enough from Sterling and Kane these two games to warrant them being dropped. Vardy and Sturridge have to be in for the Slovakia game.

Not been overly impressed by Alli or Rooney either but they're 100% starting the next game.

Wales have always been like this. A lot of their qualifying games saw them get one through Bale and then park it. Bale was awful bar his free-kick which should have been saved anyway.

Think they'll beat Russia comfortably though.

Dat deathblow

Wales played 10 times worse than Albania.Difference is they have a Bale up top while Albania don't. Seriously it was ridiculous criticizing Albania yesterday.

Think England would fancy playing better against bigger teams than teams that are coming out only to defend.

Don't think Kane is suited to this team. He's the only forward in that starting line-up but he doesn't move like a 9 in that he doesn't make angles for the creators (lol) and doesn't look to get on the end of crosses.

If we're going to play Kane we should be looking to get players closer to him. In the current system Vardy or Sturridge would be a better fit.

Bale was not getting the ball though. Wales are always hoofing instead of playing it out on ground it was pretty easy for England to defend.

I was afraid we would have never been able to see Wilsh on a competitive match. Hopefully uncle Roy gives him the start for the next game.

Yep. Wales is the kind of team that should not be at an Euro tournament tbh.

Wales will qualify, though. Russia are shocking. Even with 5 points they can still finish second depending on the England/Slovakia result.

Hart

Walker - Smalling - Cahill - Rose

Rooney - Dier - Alli

Lallana

Sturridge - Vardy

Ooooooh, what an exciting match that was! Feel a bit bad for the Wales fan who was crying even when they were drawing, lol.

My points:
- Sterling is shit. Should not start another game. Pep must be having nightmares about having to coach this guy already.

- Kane gets no service. BUT. It could be due to both Russia and Wales defending so deep. I think Kane would do better against a team that's not afraid to play.

- Alli was bad. Time to try someone else.

- Sturridge should start. He puts defenders on the back foot and looks like England's best playmaker in tight spots. Plus he can score!

- Subbing Rashford on to play out wide was just madness. Hopefully Roy doesn't do it again, although I'm sure he does.

- Dier isn't that great, should play Henderson there.

- England need much more off the ball movement.

- Wales should beat Russia if they try to actually play.

Sturridge and Vardy have to start over Kane and Sterling. My goodness Kane and Sterling have been so shit in these two games. It's not even funny.

Also I think Wilshere/Hendo should start over Alli. He's meh in midfield. He works as an AM for Spurs but he looks unorthodox to me.

I am bias but I would play Rashford ahead of Vardy, has the pace of Vardy but is miles better techincally.

but we will likely see Vardy

Bad match , probably because it was a derby.
It looks like if Hodgson anti-football is back, probably just this Russia could make England's gamestyle better than it is indeed.
Sturridge (how much is good his goals average ? ) and Vardy should be starter and Kane on bench , I agree.
Besides how much is frustrating to look Kane kicking the free kicks ? Ffs , it is not a thing for him , stop, looks like Jonny Wilkinson in those situations.
Alli played very bad today , he was particulary nervous and you could realize it when he threw Aaron Ramsey ( one of few players appreciated today , played an intelligent match ) on banners at the beginning of the match.

Vardy is developing a knack of scoring at this level and is red hot at the moment. It'd make sense to give him a start to capitalise on that especially since he didn't start the last two games.

Rashford will have his time. These are must-win games for England and it's a lot of pressure to put on a young, inexperienced player. Coming on towards the end suits him at the moment.

Besides number of touches against a team camped in its penalty area is hardly indicative of anything.

Alli meh in midfield Laughing no, he's better behind the striker but he's done some amazing work deep. I would rate him over the likes of Hendo tbh, though I honestly would say Wilshere is a more natural CM than Alli and could probably start ahead.

Kane not working within the England system? Is this the same Kane who has been great for England every time I've watched him outside of the Euros? I didn't see the game today, but if I get to it I could maybe give more detailed analysis on why it's not working for him right now. Either way, I've seen Kane play great for England, so I don't think it's really a problem, it's Hodgson's tinkering and changing the squad to how they were playing pre-Euros.

Could also be that Kane has just gone a bit cold, even throughout this last season he had a couple cold patches, and of course many hot ones. Typical of a striker. Would be fair to start Vardy considering his form but as far as quality, Kane is 1000x the player Vardy will ever be.

You say "great" but three of Kane's five goals were scored coming off the bench. It's only recently, when Rooney was injured, that Kane started getting starts so we're only now starting to see how he might fit with certain players.

For me, he's not really fitting in for two reasons. One is that England create a lot through their fullbacks and balls into the box but Kane isn't looking to get on the end of the type of service. The other is that he's hardly involving himself in the build-up or creating angles, either. So he's not fulfilling any function in the team.

It could well be that if/when we face the big teams he'll shine more because he'll have more space. But against two teams sitting deep he's been a passenger.
