About the same level. If Pique played in such a disorganized, spineless, lazy team, he'd look equally horrible as Kompany often does. I mean he already looked horrible for a couple of seasons at Barca, which even under Tata was still a far better defensive unit than City and once Enrique brought back the workrate, he looks comfortable again. Or see Boateng. Bench player at City, supposedly top 3 CB in the world at Bayern where you can survive with Kimmich in defense when you have 70 % of the ball and the 30 % of the time where you don't, you have packs of teammates infront of you chasing down the opponent vigorously.

If boateng is an horrible defender , then how many great defenders are they ? ( considering Boateng is horrible ) . Anyways people are way too harsch with defenders. You have to consider the style of play of their team and the opponents they face weekly. For instance TS is great but the best player he has to face in his league is Ben arfa ( only twice )
