Re: Champions league SF: Real Madrid Vs Manchester City
Yeah.... the 424 was a wonderful team setup with Kroos and Modric trying to hold the entire midfield. Funny thing was that the fullbacks were allowed to bomb forward too... so it looked like a 226 at times
We got destroyed by the better teams because the tactics were appropriate for 8 year olds. Rafa had absolutely no idea how to set the team up when he didn't have an overwhelming talent advantage.
It took Zidane 4-6 weeks to change our setup to a 433 and get the players used to playing that way again. We were out of shape in February He had to run training camp so all the guys got their stamina up. The Atleti loss showed where our issues were and we made the personnel adjustments.... since then, we've won 14 of the last 15 games all comps. The guys carried a hangover after the clasico win and lost the Wolfsburg game 3 days after the clasico. That was the only failure we've had since the end of February.
Rafa was way over his head... as he was with Inter and then Chelsea. He has no business managing a top squad. His tactics are ridiculous and he has no idea how to sell his vision to WC players and keep the entire squad involved.

Re: Champions league SF: Real Madrid Vs Manchester City
Jeez just stop embarrasing yourself
There was only one game that really tested us mentally which was the home game vs Wolfsburg. Apart from that we havent had to exert too much energy. Zidane has made us very solid defensively. Atleti usually rely on the space we leave them when we have no DM. With a DM as strong as Casemiro its going to look alot like the first Atleti game this season where made them look like the pathetic team that they are

that's not true. this team hasn't looked this motivated and united since mourinho's title winning season.

Re: Champions league SF: Real Madrid Vs Manchester City
You do realize that the Roma game in Rome you're referring to was the first time Madrid had won a game in Italy in over 30 years or something like that... and he'd only been on the job for about a month.
How about looking at our team over the past 2 months when Zidane actually had time to get enough practices and games to implement something. The first 6 weeks of his tenure were like preseason... the guys were out of shape of all things
You obviously don't watch Madrid so i have no idea why i keep discussing this with you.

Re: Champions league SF: Real Madrid Vs Manchester City
tactics or not, zidane someway somehow has got these guys fired up again....i'm sorry whether u dislike him, dislike madrid or love rafa benitez, you can't play that down. and frankly, i think he adopted some good strategies in this city game. if he really relied on star power to pull us through, we'd have attempted or gone forward more in the first leg and probably conceded. atleti will be tough, but back in november we were among the laughing stock in european football (aside from maybe chelsea who were going through a lot of issues)

Re: Champions league SF: Real Madrid Vs Manchester City
lets be honest mate madrid win most games from the the 8-9 super star forwards they have. imo they are not a all round strong team.sportsczy wrote:You do realize that the Roma game in Rome you're referring to was the first time Madrid had won a game in Italy in over 30 years or something like that... and he'd only been on the job for about a month.

Pellegrini: Madrid didnt create any chances, they scored from a deflected goal. The game should have gone to penalties
Lmao Pellegrini is that what you are sellling to your fans after THAT pitful performance

Pellegrini is a bad coach, you lose all of your motivation just by looking at his lifeless face
he looks like a deadman walking

I saw this on youtube which summed up Yaya Toure pretty perfectly. Dude is a midfielder too not an attacker.

Re: Champions league SF: Real Madrid Vs Manchester City
The attitude of the city players were a disgrace and further highlighted why you should never buy a group of mercenaries who obviously don't give a shit about the club.
Biggest game in the clubs history and nearly all the players were jogging half heartedly as if it were a pre-season friendly. Yaya Toure symbolised it, he was shocking.
Went out with a whimper. Made it far too easy for Real Madrid.
