UCL Semifinals Draw
We are 2 days away from the semifinal draw. Our main enemy Barcelona are out of the picture.
Atletico have a good record against us since Simeone has taken over. We haven't defeated them in over a year.
Bayern aren't impossible but is undoubtedly the best team coming into the draw
City are also a good team but this is the first time they made it this far.
Who would you guys go for in the Semis? And can we make it all the way now that a big heavyweight like Barca are eliminated?

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
City easily... PSG were decimated by injury and suspension... They should have scored 4-5 goals in the first leg. They didn't. That and missing all the players in leg 2 (especially Matuidi) led to their elimination.
We'd crush City assuming we don't do fall victim to the same circumstances as PSG did and we likely won't unless Pepe and Ramos lose their minds.

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
Definitely City followed by Bayern
There is only one team left with a good defence and i would like to avoid tthem
Bayern play to our strength with much ball but little productivity but City have players with less workrate than Ibra Messi and Ronaldo combined so of course id like them

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
City the obvious choice.
I do not want teams that plays with lot of heart and looking at how difficult it is to break down Atletico.. They are the team to avoid. Very bad match up.

Obviously city. Pellegrini is an incompetent.
Barcelona exit was rather amusing but not a surprise. Though it is a shock to those who thought they were the best in the world.
Overrated.

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
You all know how UEFA likes to make the draws all drammatic.
This may be crazy but I think:
City will defo meet bayern in an attempt to create a Guardiola vs Predecessor and Guardiola vs New team pairing.
Which leaves us with Madrid vs Atletico.
The other possibility is to pair atletico with bayern in attempt to give Guardiola the chance to revenge on behalf of his old team.
This pairing would also hope Madrid and atletico can have a repeat of the 2013/2014 final.
That being said, the most likely draw is
Madrid vs atletico
City vs bayern
2nd most likely
Madrid vs City
Atletico vs Bayern.
I hope we get city and meet Bayern in the finals

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
I actually would prefer Atletico in a 2 legged affair than in a final (again) this time around. Not that we could beat them but I prefer that nonetheless.
All hard teams that can take on one another so it's a matter picking which poison you think you can survive.

City won it fair and square. They were the better team. Stop blaming injuries.

Exactly. PSG weren't good enough, and City were better, simple as that. You can either acknowledge that, or you can blame Jesus and Moses for it.

I'm feeling Man City will be the team we draw. Took out an Italian and German team, up next English. Will play Spanish team in final

They won fair and square against a depleted PSG... that much is true. I'm sure that if all of BBC are injured and we lose, you guys will be saying that we lost fair and square too

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
Sure, you can use injuries as an excuse for not beating City. Or, you can win against Juventus without your entire backline.

Bayern's back line isn't the heart and soul of Bayern. However, take away 3 of Lahm/Thiaggo Alcantara/Alonso/Vidal... and Juve kills them.
Bayern are like Barca. They dominate possession through the midfield. So even if the defense is weak, it rarely gets exposed because there just aren't that many opportunities. So injuries to the defense has the least effect. Remember when Barca was playing Alves/Bartra/Mascherano/Adriano due to injuries? They still did mostly fine because they didn't face many attacks as the midfield dominated possession.
PSG are like that too... they play like Barca and Bayern. So for their midfield to be completely gone is devastating in every single way. Their tactical setup just goes down the toilet.

ditto to that
Hopefully the team does not equate being patient to being slow.
Throughout the second leg against Wolfsburg, our passing was just irritatingly slow and we could not create any danger through open play.
I say we rush city in the first 20 minutes and leave them confused. They are nothing special except for Aguero.
I hope bayern beat atletico too so we can just go to San Siro and play counter attack because i am pretty sure Guardiola would love to win in grand style, while we would love to win ermmm the trophy

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
So just because you lose one, two or three of your key players, you should roll over? And then use that as an excuse for losing? A true big team with a winning mentality doesn't operate like that. They always have alternatives in case Plan A crumbles and when they're on the pitch, they give everything for the shirt.
PSG got knocked out for the umpteenth time since the takeover and are yet to reach the CL semi-final. That's unacceptable for a team with such deep pockets and elite players. That's inexcusable. That's shameful. And a handful of injuries couldn't and shouldn't spare them blushes.

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
Tbf a single player was the difference between us getting knocked out and going through
That said PSG played like they were playing Monaco in the league lol. In fact so did City it was a game between 2 crap teams playing at a friendly-like pace. I watched the highlights aside from from some long range shots City were relatively passive and had like 1 shot on target at home
As long as you dont get complacent City is relatively easy to beat. This is probably the only game we wont need a CDM in because City are so bad at pressing
We will be away first, getting an away goal will be crucial. City are not Wolfsburg. We lose 2-0 and we can kiss CL goodbye

Man city? We got lucky. I would say eas draw but then i remember saying the same thing about juventus...
We cannot be complacent.
We cannot be complacent.
Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
City midfield will make it hard for us to break them down. They plays with two defensive midfielders. Their pressing is really average and their ability to keep the ball in defense is even worse than ours so getting the ball back wont be a problem.
How ever, they have developed a good counter attacking game recently with Silva,Aguero and Debruyne. We will have to cope with that.I were ZIdane i will play with a creative player as winger. Sagna is not a threat offensively so Ronaldo not defending should not be causing that much problem ideally.Their defense tries to maintain the line and barely goes man marking. Yup, their fullbacks wont man mark our wingers. They are big threat in set pieces, especially Kompany and Ottamendi. Can already see one of them scoring from Corner.

Well, I suggested that Barca's CL winning campaign of last season was relatively comfortable for them, since their top rivals in Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were struggling with injuries to key players, and couldn't quite find the right momentum. Their most challenging fixture then was against PSG in the group stages. With all due respect to Juventus, they barely managed to beat a Real Madrid side that had been hampered by injuries all season long. Your response was that Juventus were the better team and they got to the final fair and square, which was really not the point I was trying to make.

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
Pellegrini is shit and debruyne+silva+agueri overrated.
Casemiro is more than adequate to cook that belgian waffle in particular 350℉ no problem.
I'm more concerned about our attacking atm. Benz needs to find form as does bale. CR7 cant be relied on all the time.

Re: UCL Semifinals Draw
Kevin, Aguero and Silva can put us to the sword quite easily though and Casemiro is not more than adequate to handle these quite talented footballers. We would need another team effort to keep Man City at bay.
I know you don't rate City highly but come nah man, this is a good side who can beat us.

Yes but this is a big game and big games are what aguero and silva are known for in terms of being ghosts in. Maybe they step up for once in their careers but I have my doubts.Doc wrote:Kevin, Aguero and Silva can put us to the sword quite easily though and Casemiro is not more than adequate to handle these quite talented footballers.
